  1. sweet deal tanks . i think i'll also get the friedlander walking bass once i get more comfortable with jazz cheers
  2. thanks! i've just read the comments for this book on amazon and everyone gave it 5 stars! thanks for a great advice! As for miles davis, I think that part of the reason why I cant listen to him is because i dont understand jazz, some of it just seems too random for me. On the other hand i love stuff like Avishay Cohen ( gently disturbed is my favorite cd at the moment ), weather report, old Herbie hancok and Idris Muhammad. Of course I'm open for everything, and i would be more than glad to study miles davis and maybe learn to like him on the way!
  3. Hey everyone I'm looking for a book that basically explains jazz from the begging. Ideally it would be a large book that will cover a lot of ground and have audio cd for further reference. (or names of jazz piece for reference ). An audio example to put things in context is very important for me. My theoretical knowledge is pretty basic, i know all the modes, i can read very slowly and feel comfortable with progressions that dont go out of the given key ( modulation? ) thanks! Ito.
  4. The movie "Electric apricot" is one of the funniest i've seen lately. A mocumentary with less' special humor.

  11. Im thinking of buying a new bass in the next couple of month and the thumb is one of my options. I never had a chance to properly play one and see how it feels, but from the 5 minutes i played it in a shop the neck felt HUGE to my small hands.
  12. Amazing looking and sounding bass. Is there a great difference in sound between yours and a new thumb?
  13. thanks guy, next time i change strings i'll record some sound clip for those of us who are not fimilar with the stingray sound.
  14. It was a sunny day today, so i decided it would only be fair to let my stingray get some sun!
  15. Well how should i start... Im a 28 years old beginner bass player looking for a band. I've been playing bass for about a year and its all still fresh and new to me, but not music. I've been producing house and techno for the last 10 years and had quite a few releases. I always felt that techno didn't deliver many aspects of music that i wanted to explore so i picked up the bass. My main bass influences are: Les Claypool, Square Pusher, Mr bungle, Mark king, herbie hancock, flea, dirk lance (old incubus) and basically anything that grooves and sounds original. Im very open to any style of music. Even tho' i'm a beginner, I'm NOT looking to play root. Im very dedicated and looking to put a lot of effort and time into the right band (i do have a day job tho' ) I know this is a short life story and i hope it doesnt sound too lame , but i want the right band to know what to expect and i hope it make sense. If you wanna check my electronic music: www.myspace.com/jumptothebeat cheers, Ito P.S I cant do any backing vocals and got heavy accent
