1.
I remember you from before - was that on BassTALK or BassWORLD?
Yeah... one or the other... did one shut up shop or summat...? Have been using the US site TalkBass and Ric forums of late but would prefer to use a UK site... Only just found this one a couple of days back...
2. Here are some pics as promised... And the mark on the face of the first picture is a reflection, not a scratch...
3. Should have said... you can hear some dodgy demo tracks from The Legoheads on our myspace... http://www.myspace.com/thelegoheads
4. Got a pair of Etymotic Research noise isolation earphones. It's the closest thing to having audio jacked directly in to your central nervous system. I use them for mixing down tracks on the tascam. You can pick a set up for £130 if you look hard. Well worth the investment and better that so-called noise cancelling sets as the earplug design completely shuts out external noise. Great for flying and down the gym too...
5. Hi all... I'm Mick... bass player with The Legoheads, a 4-piece indie band located west of Oxford. Used to be a crap guitarist until someone asked if I could play bass for a new band they were starting and in no time at all I became a crap bassist instead.. I'm a bit "all the gear, no idea" hoping that good kit will inspire me to play and practice more which sort of works and justified spending a lot of dosh on my precious Ricenbacker 4003. Also conned the wife into buying me a Noel Gallagher El Dorado guitar strap for Christmas and treated myself to a wireless set for extra posing capability. If only my talent matched my kit....
6. Michael Kelly Club Custom 5-String Acoustic Bass. Around a year old but hardly played. Brand new d'Addario phosphor bronze strings. Fishman pickup and pre-amp. Comes with brand new hard case. Very small blemish on soundhole. Photos to follow soon. £300... NOW reduced to £275...!!! Located in Carterton near Oxford and Swindon.
7. Got to know when to call it a day... if it's not fun then it's time to move on. Good times and new inspiration lie elsewhere...
8.
Nice Rick and a few more on the wall I see. Just wondered how you rate the Maple against the black 4001/3 you have ? I have found the 4003's from the late 80s to be a bit more chunky around the neck than later or earlier models. Tell all please
I've only played the Maple a couple of times and used it at rehearsal a few nights back. It was lovely to play and sounded better that my Jetglo. I put some Elixir strings on the Jetglo after liking them on my six strings but they really don't seem to work with the Ric. Not sure what strings were fitted when I bought it last year..? The strings on the Maple are pretty mellow too but I can't ID them. As for the chunky neck, I can't say I've noticed but both my 4003s are very comfortable and easy to play with my medium sized hands. Might ave to check out the differences now tho... My problem is that I love the look of the black and white over the maple and black so despite prefering the way the Maple sounds I'll be sticking with the Jetglo.. and yes... I really am that shallow...
