1. Tim brought my Zoot cab.

Top fella, great communications and uber-patient waiting an extra few minutes for me to find my way out of Cannock on route to Stafford to meet up! :)

Totally recommend dealing with Tim to anyone.

    Thanks again Tim.

    Cheers

  2.
Could be very confusing to have too many options....

I have East pre's which can accomodate pickups switching and active or passive...plus mid sweep and TnB cut and boost..that is enough and pretty confusing in the early days until you get a default return set-up.

Although some basses with all these options sound a good idea in demo, in practice, they are too much, IMO....and becomes an unconvincing jack of all trades but a master of none.
Funny what you say about the East preamp.

I've taken the J-Retro off my Lakland JO and it's now sporting a pair of EMG's with vol/vol/tone at 18v. Sounds great.

The J-Retro did too. Don't get me wrong. A great preamp. But for me, there was too much choice. On a couple of gigs, found myself thinking "aggggghhhhh, where's what and how and erm.....".

I know it's "me" rather than the "pre"! :)

  3. All,

Up for sale is my ZOOT ZB112NT 1x12 4 Ohm 300w cab. It's a 4 Ohm cab because I specified this with the intention of originally getting a second one to match my EBS head (which goes down to 2 Ohms minimum).

Brought it 3 years ago and have gigged with it a couple of times but has had very little use since.

It's a fantastic cab. Sounds absolutely brilliant, really punchy, deep lows for such a small cab and light as a very light thing that's been on a diet.

Selling it because it's been sat doing nothing as I've got a little Line6 combo for home use. Looking at GAS funds for a RH450.

Postage not included as I prefer local pickup rather than couriering it.

  4. All,

Since I've been using the inbuilt tuner in my Line6 M13, I've had my Korg DTR-2 out of the rack.

Rather than hang onto it, it's now up for sale for £65 inc postage.

It's been absolutely faultless over the three or so years I've had it and is in great nick.

  5.
... stopped me from buying a Barefaced cab, I'd still love to hear my RH450 through a Super Twelve.
I was fortunate to meet up with Markstuk a few weeks ago to try out his Super Twelve T with my EBS head. He's got a RH450 with his BareFaced cab.

Sounded absolutely killer. OOODLES of power and punch in such a portable package.

Think I'm gonna get meself one :)

  6. Cover's gig in a pub in Bromsgrove, Worcestershire.

Trying to motivate myself by supping a cuppa and doing a bit of browsing. Been a couple of months since the last gig so I've gotta get together all my gear and then pack the car. The bit I hate the most, apart from the unload late tonight.

Hey ho though, onwards and upwards!

  7. Hi All,

My band, The Retro Band, play The Wishing Well in Bromsgrove on Saturday 14th May. Come along for an evening of diverse cover tunes from the 1960's to present.

Wear a hat with your name on it if you come along. For BassChatter identification of course. I'll be watching the crowd for you. If there is a crowd of course :)

  8.
Hi,

I've got a S12T - what do you want to know?

    Cheers

    Mark
Mark graciously allowed me a go on his S12T a couple of weeks ago because I've been looking at revising my rig.

SERIOUS cab. Sounds massive, it's crisp, punchy and in such a small footprint to boot.

    It's convinced me....

  9. I'd look at the Line6 UX-2. I've had mine for a few years now and it's been rock solid on PC and Mac.

Line6 always keep the drivers bang up to date via the Line6 Monkey updater app (as you'd expect) and there's the advantage of the excellent modelling software called GearBox. Huge tweakery.... :)

  10.
Silly question maybe - but couldn't you have just turned the grille around? I doubt it had a W both sides :)
Not with my 6x10 Warwick as the grill was curved around top and bottom in order to fit into the recess of the cab.

  11. +1

    Looks great.

I had a Warwick 6x10 for a while and did the same. Bish bash bosh, bit of hammerite on the grill and it looked 100000 times better.

    Bye bye big f'ugly W.

    :)

  12.
Ha, that looks huge! I bet the flight case weighs a ton! :)
It's not that heavy, it's portable and most importantly, is bullet proof protection for the gear.

I've got an 2u that I could use if I wanted lighter as I don't really NEED the wireless and tuner when going "au-natural". However, it's convenience. All the cables and speaker leads pack away into the back. Makes the setup and pack down pretty simple.

Really want a second Zoot cab though.

  13.

Here's my mini-rig. Although with the 4u rack, it's not quite as mini as it could be.

The 4u contains my EBS HD-350 with my tuner and Sennheiser wireless. The cab is a 4 Ohm Zoot 112NT.

Love the cab and sounds great but to be honest, I've never used it live, only at rehearsal. Need to take the leap of faith and go for it at a gig.

Thought about getting a second 112NT at some point. Perhaps the extra volume from the second cab would allow me to gig with it.

  14. Those look flipping marvellous!

Love the Justice (although not too sure on the lipstick tube pickups) and the Mercalli 5-FM looks fabulous. The DubKing reminds me of Feeder's Taka Hirose's basses. Only without the gold sparkle!

There's an 'international' dealers page on the site, link below.

  15.
Hi guys,

I'm playing a 300w valve head(V6) through a 4x10 cab(EBS Classic Line) rated at 4 Ohms. The Trace head is switchable between 4 and 2 Ohms. Ideally I want to extend the set up with 12x2 0r a 1x15 at 4 Ohms (maybe even a 10x2). EBS dont do a Classic Line 12 or 15 at 4 Ohms so I might have to change brand/make completely. My first choice would be Trace but I can''t find any 12'' or 15'' stuff rated at 4 Ohms.

Any ideas? for a 10x4 + (12x2 or 15x1) all cabs rated at 4 Ohms. Weight and price (within reasonable limits) are of no concern. Space however is, there's only so much you can fit into a Fiat Punto :)

What about 2 Barefaced Super Twelve Ts?

Light, smallish and run at 4 Ohm thus giving you the minimum 2 Ohms.

    Expensive but total DOOM.

    :)

  16. Hi All,

Are there any Midlands BC'ers out there who fancy doing a couple of dep gigs at the end of the month?

I was supposed to be doing them for my mate's covers band but we've got a serious illness in the family (my wife's mum is going into hospital next week and having a big op for kidney cancer) and it may mean I may have to be around at home to baby sit and hold the fort whilst she's away from home. Therefore, I've decided rather than say yes now and then have to pull out days before, it's sensible to get someone in for them for these two gigs.

Re the gigs, one's a wedding on the 29th up in Burton-On-Trent and then a pub gig in Bromsgrove on the 30th. Ideally, the fellas would probably appreciate a practice or two before hand if you can make it.

Usual covers band thing. The set consists of two one hour sets comprising of approximately 25-30 songs. The music is alternative / indie and consists of varied material along the lines of KOL, Oasis, Stones, Primal Scream, The Killers, Supergrass etc.

If you're interested, PM me ASAP and I'll put you in touch with the lads.

    Cheers
    T

    BOOOOM-TISH!

    Here all week... :)
