1. Warwick Thumb NT6 bass, from Warwick's golden days. Hand-made in 1990 in Western Germany. I have owned this for about 3 years, but alas, my needs have changed and this beast has to go!

Electrics feature Seymour Duncan Basslines pickups and Warwick 2 band preamp (with active / passive push-pull pot). Schaller strap locks attachments are installed.
All hardware is original, as far as I know. Wenge / bubinga woods combination, with wenge fretboard.

Great low action, and the truss rod works well. Bronze frets are in decent shape. Restrung with £50 La Bella steel roundwound strings just prior to sale.

There are scratches due normal use; please note the lacquer chip next to one of the frets - but this one doesn't affect playability. There is also a surface scratch on top horn, but it doesn't look to have gone through to the wood. I added a photo that's me trying to make it as visible as possible (flash and all) - you can hardly see in the other photos.... It is a 27-year old instrument, after all :-)

The actual finish is the rare gloss-black polish(slightly blue tint), but with wood grain still visible underneath. I believe a set of 3 Thumbs were made like this, for a 1990 trade show.

Comes with Warwick rockbag. Bass is heavy, but sounds incredible (two sides of the wood choices, I suppose). There's the famous warwick growl on low notes, and piano-like sustain on the high notes.

Meet-up in Wimbledon / Central London preferred. I don't want to post this bass and risk it being smashed! I may be able to meet half-way if you are driving down, within reason....

I've included other photos I took of the bass, inside / outside - hopefuly to compensate for my lack of photography skills....

  2. Hi guys

I'm a recent and v happy owner of a 2012 Fender USA Precision Deluxe (P/J, active / passive tone controls). I'm loving it, but I noticed that when it is in "passive" mode, changing any of the 3 EQ controls seems to have an effect on the tone. I haven't opened up the bass, but I found this a bit strange. It's not drastic, but I can hear the difference when turning the EQ knobs...

is this normal? is the active EQ, even nominally bypassed, still loading the pickups / circuit somehow? or is this likely a "defect" -either due to Fender's circuit design, or maybe how prior owner wired in the new passive Dimarzio pickups?

Would appreciate any experiences with other active / passive circuits...

    many thanks
    Roman

  3. As part of the forthcoming gear clear-out, I found a set of Thomastik Infeld flats that I will not have a use for.

    Please note the following:

I got the strings as a together with a bass that I bought (as spares for the other TI set), so I can’t give an accurate number of hours they were played prior to me owning – however when I string them up yesterday, the strings seemed to have a decent bit of metallic “zing” left…. So they are not dead! I have played them for maximum of 15 minutes yesterday.

G string silk seems to be a tad darker than others if you look closely. Don’t know why. It's possible these strings came from different TI sets originally.

G string measures around 110cm from tip to ball end (~43.3 inches). All other strings are actually longer. The G MAY fit a 4-in-line headstock, but please check carefully. I am sure this set would fit 2+2 or 3+1 headstocks, though.

Although this did not come with the strings as I got them, I have a full TI string packaging set (at some it was used to store other strings), which I have included and will post the strings in.
So I propose £18 posted … hopefully that’s fair given the above?

Paypal gift or bank transfer preferred.

    Cheers
