Has anyone put flatwounds on an Ortega D-Walker?
If so what make were they?
Thanks for any info.

Thanks! What a great video. I've been fascinated by these since I saw Jamaladeen Tacuma playing a black Steinberger L2 c1981/2. He was the first person I'd ever seem play one at time. I bought a new Hohner B2A in the 90s but sold it when I had a clear out of some basses about 15 years ago. Now it's time to buy either the Spirit or the Hohner.

On their Facebook page they had the picture of the pink 'The Saint' bass at their open day/weekend. In reply to a few questions Mark Gooday had stated that they were shortscale and due for release in April.
They are selling the ones used at the open day as prototypes through Reverb. I bought the pink one and it is definitely the one in Ashdown's photo as there are a few tell tale marks such as a piece of scratchplate swarf attached to a certain screw. It's definitely 34".
I don't mind as I prefer a 34", just fancied another shorty.
It would appear it's just a range of new colours, and possibly roasted necks (if they weren't an option before) being released in April.
The good news is that this is a standard The Saint bass which retail for around £1000, I only paid £299.
😁👍
Ah right thanks. I've just seen the thread on Facebook and see what you mean now.

Just to add to my post about the Ashdown shorties, they're not shorties.
I bought the pink prototype pictured but it is 34".
The Ashdown website says the The Grail Short Scale is only Pre-Order

Anyone know which one of these is nearest in design to the original Steinberger L Series basses?
I realise that the materials used was different but how about the dimensions?
Any info appreciated.

These are brilliant basses and that's great price and if I didn't already have one I'd have had that immediately.
Someone will be getting a great bass!

I advertised my Carlsboro valve amp on eBay with a collection only stipulation. Someone clicked the buy button, then immediately emailed me to say "I'm sorry it's not looking good for collection, but if you package up the amp I'll have Royal Mail collect it."
When I pointed out this wasn't going to happen and that his idiocy had cost me money and wasted my time, he started getting aggressive about it.
I appreciate this is an entirely pointless post, but I just wanted to vent somewhere. Ebay idiots, eh?
It's really frustrating but not uncommon. I've been on eBay since 1997 and could write a book on some of my buying and selling experiences which were even stranger in the early years when there were no provision for photos to be posted so you were buying by description only.

Hi, I have a box and can pack it in its gig bag in the box. I think courier would be around £30 but not sure of the best courier - I am told parcel force are good but they have strikes. DPD are also recommended. Do you have a preference + it would be your cost and also insurance is probably wise.
I've used almost all couriers over the years but either Royal Mail or DPD are fine. PM with the details when you get them.

Hi I will try and find out courier costs tomorrow or thursday and let you know.
Thanks!

Would you send it or is it pick up only? If you would send it (at my cost of course) i'd definitely have it please.

This thread seems to suggest to me that often the audience has more of a sense of humour than the band does.

Had literally just messaged the Doc. After seeing some of these comments I may withdraw my request if I do get a response.
I'll pursue the company mentioned before.

I haven't been on here for well over a year but have just pmd the Doc so i'd love to know if you do get a reply. -

I saw him last week. He sorted out the wiring on my new Geddy Lee Jazz bass and made it a lovely tort plate
He was definitely on good form

If you see him again could you ask him where my Squier Bass VI scratchplate i sent him in 2014 is? -

Seriously? If I thought this would see use I'd be all over it - I'm playing my main 5 so much at the minute.
Is the black in the ribcage contour a scratch protector?
Is it lightweight?
[/quote]
Yes it's a scratch protector.
I've only got bathroom scales to weigh it on so i weighed a couple of basses i have just as a comparison and here are the results:
Ibanez Verdine White Signature: 9 pounds
1979 Shergold Marathon: 7.5 pounds
1974 Fender Jazz Bass: a whopping 11 pounds!!! -

Can't believe this is still here but it is. -

One my favourite basses that I have. I bought a mint one that had been used as a demo in shop after they were discontinued for the bargain price of £400 and to be honest if I had paid double that I wouldn't have been disappointed. Great bass. I'm sure you will enjoy it.
