    For an exhibition of the above the 1993 Japanese CD 'MO FUNK' by The Jazz Funk Masters featuring Louis Johnson has Louis slappin' an poppin' his way through eight Motown classics. Wonderful stuff indeed :)

  2. The 4-CD box set 'The Pet Sounds Sessions' that was released in the mid 1990s has some interesting mixes and backing tracks plus an excellent book on the 'making of Pet Sounds'.

    The Bass players on these sessions (listed as Fender Bass & String Bass) were: Carol Kaye, Lyle Ritz, Ray Pohlman & Chuck Berghofer

    Totally agree with both re: Percy Jones.

    His 1990 CD 'Cape Catastrophe' is (for me) up there with the best Bass albums.
