  1. Many thanks for the recomendations guys :)

    I've downloaded the 2 freebies as a starting point;
Audacity looks like it could be exactly what I'm after as it not only allows the pitch to be changed but it also allows you to save the the the transposed MP3 in the new key (once I'd installed the extra plug-ins, but that only took about 5 minutes of head scratching to figure out!) which is really useful.

Also, the pitch shifting software it uses (SoundTouch) is very good - it doesn't sound as heavily processed as the one on my Tascam CD bass trainer or the real time pitch shifting used by BestPractice.

Having said that though, BestPractice does more or less everything that my Tascam does, to the same usable quality AND is a freebie - that in itself makes it an awesome download for figuring out what's going on on a particular recording.

    Thanks again guys, much appreciated.

    Sid.

  2. Hi Folks,

I've just joined a new covers band and am currently learning their set.
Most of the stuff they play is transposed from the original key on the recordings that I'm working from.

Does anyone know of any good quality, relatively cheap (or even better, free!) software that can change the key or pitch of the track (with or without slowing it down)? I don't use the PC for making music so I'm totally ignorant of what's out there - I did a google search but just ended up more confused that when I began :)

I have got one of the old Tascam CD bass trainers which is fine for learning most things but I find the pitch shifter sounds quite heavily processed.
As such I wondered if there is anything that can change the key/pitch but still be relatively natural sounding?
Unfortunately my technique isn't always good enough to transpose things on the fly - I like to have things nailed before blasting away with a band!!

    Any help much appreciated,

    Sid.

  3. Hi Stuart,

It's provisionally sold, I'm just waiting to tie up the loose ends with the buyer.
If the sale falls through I'll give you a shout ASAP if that's OK?

    Thanks for the interest,

    Sid.

  4. Trev aka LeftyBiskit is a genuine guy to deal with. He bought my boss bass limiter pedal from me.
He kept me informed of the transaction as it was happening form his end, paid quickly and the whole transaction went without any trouble.

I'd happily trade with him again.

    Sid.

  5. On hold ....

[quote name='Osiris' post='1007122' date='Oct 31 2010, 11:03 AM']For sale, a used Alesis 3060 Twin channel rack compressor plus power supply. It has a couple of minor marks on it plus a mild case of rack rash but overall it’s in good condition and as in full working order.

Collection from Wellingborough, Northants preferred although I’m happy to post if the buyer is happy to cover the costs – No idea exactly how much but we can sort something out if you’re interested.

For sale, a used Warwick 4U padded rack bag. The vinyl covering has a few marks and signs of wear but it does not have any rips or tears in it. It has front and rear zip up flaps, a side mounted carry handle and metal loops for carrying it with a padded shoulder strap – also included. One of the zip tags has been lost and has been replaced with a metal key ring coil. The main rack housing however is sound.

  12. Popped over to meet Steve at his house this morning to part ex my 2 old Trace cabs plus a wad of cash for his TecAmp M212.

Steve is honest, friendly and really down to earth.
He made me feel very welcome as we executed our dodgy deal and chewed the fat on pretty much everything.

What a top bloke in every respect!

    Sid.

  13. I arranged a straight swap with Ray - His TC Electronics Classic 450 amp for my Mark Bass Little Mark mkII.
The trade went without a hitch.

What I was especially impressed with was that he had no problem dealing with someone who is virtually unknown on Basschat and happily packaged off his £500 amp head as soon as he could. Ray was always quick to respond my questions and thorough in his replies.

I only managed to speak to him once over the phone but he seems like a genuine guy to deal with - highly recommended to all other Basschat wheeler dealers!
