  1. I had one of these back in the day.
They were pretty poor, OK as a gimmick, the fuzz was OK, a bit thin,
but the wah was pathetic, seem to remember it had a siren too!
Funnily enough it got stolen when I played in Gourock! :) at the Cragburn!!

  2. Be patient all shall come to ye-bay!
I have just picked up a Walkabout Scout 115 I won on an auction on e-bay!
I actually felt guilty picking it up from the previous owner, a nice guy and helpful too.
can't wait to try it out tonight.
tried it briefly when i picked it up, but just couldn't torture the guy, didn't even bring my own bass such was my guilt.

Hadn't played for ages and gave away my brilliant late 70's Orange - 120 graphic and 4x12" - a heavy set-up to a friend in lieu of a wedding present over 20 years ago.
I have been using a little Aria Loco combo 2x6" with an extension 12" for gigs in a Jazz/R'n'B band, great tone - minimum hassle.
recently i have been using a Roland DB700 which is fab, programmable/switchable channels, great sounds,
but just a tad too unmanageable for my feeble bones.

i really missed a bit of 'real' grind and so...I have been lurking in hope of a reasonably priced walkabout after being blown away by the sound of a 112 version even though all i could try it with was a cheap Tobias plank.

Pics and report to follow...pant, pant, drool, drool.... :brow:
much dusting of Fender, polishing of Bongo

  3. That's a big +1 on the Roland DB700.
Great sound, this from along time former Fender Bassman, Orange user.
two programmable channels, (+1 more - manual setting), chorus and compressor.
I'm sure mine is rated at 300W, never had to use it over 50% on the master.
    S/H £? I'm sure I saw one on e-bay for £250.
Bit heavy, cheap crappy input jacks are the only downsides

  4. Gotta agree, the UK price is ridi-f'n-diculous.
I have been waiting eagerly for it to be released and i know it contains the guts of their other products
but this sort of money for something you might use what? at max 20% of a gig?
get real, at US price doesn't it creep in just under the duty free value limit?

  5. I've had a DB700 (15") for a few years.
The sound is great, took me about 5 mins to dial in a sound soooo close to my old Orange amp.
Its very loud, the programmable channels option is terrif, giving you effetively 3 channels to choose, 2 x prgrammable, one manual.
The compressor is great, i don't use the chorus.
it s a bit heavy (pre Neo) but haven't had to use it beyond 1o'clock on the master volume, even outside.
two cons: dodgy inputs, use a male/female jack permanently attahed to get by
    permanently attached mains cable.

  6. Hi Gang,
just tripped across basschat today didn't realise there was a UK site, oops!

Looking forward to chatting with the ranks of the 'overcharged' here in the UK,
oops spending too much time on US sites!

OK, I have been playing bass since before solid state was an option.
I have had my fair share of hair-dos and strange trousers, playing professionally for a number of years.

I still work in the biz, albeit in a managerial capacity.

Currently trying to wangle in a GBShuttle 6.0-12T from the USA, like so many I hate the weight (and the wait)

Playing blues rock in one band and strange songs about fags, beer and wimmin in another .
I have to say that the fun/effort ratio is much better now than it was in the young days.
Despite, or perhaps because, we have no recording/publishing/being cool to do.
Not quite relegated to playing sitting down in a tank top yet either.

Anyhoo, thank you for havin' me.
