Just bought Peter’s ACG Finn 5.

Met half way but didn’t get much time to chat as my route was festooned with Sunday drivers (it was a Friday).

Peter’s a lovely bloke and the bass is magnificent.

I had the same colour AVRI ‘57 and sold it (without regrets) as I wasn’t playing it but seeing one like it tugs at the heartstrings.

Having picked up a 5 string J-type from the venerable Mr Cringean, and feeling more comfortable with the extra string this one is being neglected and needs to make way for another 5 string (more to come on that 😉)

I’m wondering if I need one of these.

I have a Steinberg Audio Interface connected to studio monitors. I have an audio switch that allows connection of Mac (home), PC (work) and Sonos outputs into the Steinberg and out to the monitors. 

Here’s my problem...I want to record the PC/Mac output at the same time as listening through monitors so the line in feeding the monitors is also the line in to the Steinberg and Cubase. 

Hoping there is a simple solution. 

Is this the Soundhouse; originally in Westgate St? If so, that’s where I bought by first bass, secondhand Hohner JJ, 25 years ago.

I’m considering putting this American Vintage ‘57 Reissue Precision up for sale. 

I think I’m the second owner. Comes with tweed case, ashtray, pickup cover and thumb rest. In very good condition. 

Its been gigged so has a few dinks here and there, a bit of buckle rash; nothing dramatic. 

Ive had it for about 5 years and I vowed I’d never sell it (in a thread in this very boutique) but I’m not playing it as much these days.

It last saw real daylight and fresh air at rehearsals for an ill-fated venture a couple of years ago.

I agree wholeheartedly on the copyright stuff; give it a very wide berth, but how long have opinions needed to be evidence-based?

I think Ritters look like something concocted in a woodwork class. Does that leave me open to the threat of litigation; of course not?

He was a misogynist; was so often off his tits on stage having drank/smoked too much that every performance was a lottery; was a mess in his twilight years but he had one of the great voices.

The J has SB70 Alnico single coil pickups with the East Uni-Pre amp with Active/Passive switching.

It has that classic 70s Jazz sound. It’s light for a 5-string too. 

Alan is a good chap to deal with; always very helpful and a mine of information.

Both stock instruments. The J-type is strung E-C and is the easiest 5-string I’ve played. 

The Recurve was my first and the tonal palette is huge with Alan’s DFM pre-amp.
