  1. They are works of art and so easy to play. Good range of tones from the John East pre-amp. I’ll add the weight later but it’s light. Looking to fund a custom build hence the sale.

I had a Finn 5 up on here recently, Wenge and Bubinga a la Thumb. The weight (5.2kg) scared people, I think.

  3. O2 presale for Leeds First Direct; cheapest tickets £136 and some of those are nosebleeds.

Saw Fleetwood Mac there a few years ago. Fifteen rows back, opposite Mick Fleetwood’s drum riser, £125.

Will wait for Musical Box next February.

  5. First concert - Wishbone Ash, Sheffield City Hall, 1972

Last concert - The Musical Box, York Barbican, 2020

Best concert - Bruce Springsteen, Birmingham Symphony Hall, 1996 (solo acoustic)

Worst concert - Van Halen, Toyota Center, Dallas, 2008 (awful sound) or Wishbone Ash 2019, Leeds Brudenell Social Club 2019 (Soulless, self-indulgent posturing)

Loudest concert - Wishbone Ash, Leeds University, 1974. (PA stack on the floor, cross-legged in front of them, ears ringing for days)

Most times - Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band (30), John Martyn (20+), Wishbone Ash (20+), Genesis (10)

Surprising - Andy Fairweather Low, York University 1976; Babybird, Leeds Brudenell Social Club, 2019 - superb!

Next concert - Martin Turner Band, Selby Town Hall, March 2020

Wish I could have seen - Nick Drake, Leonard Cohen, ABBA, Sex Pistols, Bruce Springsteen (River Tour), Pink Floyd (1994)

Wish I could see again - Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, John Martyn (c.1978)

  6. Saw Steve Hackett at the Barbican in York in November and enjoyable as it was, I would spend my money on The Musical Box for the authentic Genesis experience.

First Genesis gig for me was 1976 at Stafford, having failed to get tickets for The Lamb tour the previous year, so note perfect Gabriel era material with vintage gear was a treat. Goose pimples-a-plenty!

    How was the non-PG material?

Excellent. A lot of ‘A Trick Of The Tail’. ‘Los Endos’ took me straight back to Manchester Free Trade Hall Jan ‘77 hence the pic.

They finished with ‘The Musical Box’, naturally, but came back for an encore of ‘’Supper’s Ready’ 😳

  8. Unashamedly transported back to the 1970s last night at York Barbican; 2.5 hours of consummate musicianship from The Musical Box, one of, if not, the foremost Genesis tribute bands. Stunning!

  10. For Sale/Trade £1750 - Final Price Drop.

Looking for 4 or 5 string lined fretless.

Bought this from Peter (GreeneKing) a couple of months ago and am using his description from that sale as it sums up this instrument beautifully.

For those familiar with ACG and Alan’s work, this is excellent value for a bass of this spec.

“It has a flat radius board, 18mm spacing and plays like a dream. Complex tones are available with the filter pre and 20 coils of pickup on hand. The bass even has a passive switch and a passive tone (batteries are required to power the pickups).

34" scale with a 7 piece neck that is ultra stable. I modelled the woods from my Warwick Thumb and it has that growl which is great. This bass has presence in spades...
