  1. **Withdrawn** - Hungarian 3/4 Double Bass made by Szegedi Hangszergyarto for sale. Reasonable offers considered.

Strongly prefer collection from Newport, South Wales.

This is a good sounding bass and is in overall good condition. It has a carved top with back and sides laminate with a hardwood fingerboard. I have had a few upgrades made to the instrument by Martins of Banbury. These include fitting adjustable bridge, new flexible cable tail gut and new heavy duty endpin. The bass sounds best with steel flatwound strings for a more modern sound with a good bloom that is highly suitable for jazz pizz. It can also be bowed and would make a good student bass.

  2. *** WITHDRAWN FROM SALE*****

Westone Spectrum II, Red for sale for £120. Reasonable offers considered.

I can post this bass at cost (£17), but would prefer collection from Newport, South Wales.

Sorry, no trades as I am having a clear out...

This is a basic single pickup Westone model, made in Korea in the 1980s, but surprisingly good quality. Nice action and very easy to play - but also very nice sounding too, if you can get past the pointy headstock... This would be a great starter bass for someone learning to play.

  3. This has now been SOLD.

Westone Thunder 1A Fretless, Ebony for sale for £200. I can post this at cost, but I would prefer collection from Newport South Wales.

Sorry, I'm not interested in trades as I'm having a clear out...

This is the fretless version of the Westone single pickup Thunder bass with an active pre-amp (requires 2 x 9v batteries). These are very well constructed basses, made in Japan by the Matsumoku factory to a high standard. The bass can be played with the pre-amp either switched on or off, making it pretty versatile and capable of a wide range of tones. The bass is very playable and is in overall good condition, although a chunk of enamel has been chipped out just above the volume and tone controls (see pics). Sale includes original Westone case.

  4. Now SOLD

Epiphone EB3 Ebony for sale £140. I can post this at cost, but would prefer collection from Newport, South Wales.

Sorry, I am not interested in trades as I am having a clear out...

This is a nice bass in good condition. It plays well and has a very deep old school sound. I have strung it with flat wound strings for the classic late-60s/early-70s EB-style sound, of which it does a reasonable job - considering it is a fraction of the cost of an original Gibson... I have replaced the jack input socket with one of a decent quality because I was getting drop-outs from the original. Apart from that, the bass has not been modified in any way.

  5. Withdrawn - may re-advertise in the future...

Dean Stylist Archtop Bass with Sunburst Finish for sale. Reasonable offers considered.

Can be posted at cost (£17), although I'd prefer collection from Newport South Wales.

Less interested in trades as I am having a clear out, but could be open to persuasion...

This is a nice looking bass in good overall condition. Made in Korea, I believe. It plays well and sounds good and is very responsive as you'd expect from a fairly decent semi-acoustic bass. The body is quite deep - think acoustic guitar - and is pretty loud unamplified, therefore good for acoustic gigs or quiet practice. The bass has flat wound strings on it at the moment for very effective 1960s-style sounds. The neck is 32", so kind-of medium scale. This bass has not been modified in any way, although replacing the stock pickups with better quality chrome faced pickups is a popular improvement for this bass.
