  1. Really nice looking bass. Having one myself I know they're great basses.
Strangest thing in bass, everyone who has one says they're great, every
review said they were great yet they're cheap as chips.

If you can get a even glossy finish like it has now the wine red would look
killer. What about the neck would you leave that natural or stain to suit ?

  2. Just wondering what others thoughts are on this.

Saw a bass on ebay this morning, good price and postage, so though
I'll buy that. Got order confirmation but no payment success one so
checked PP. Said it was " uncollected "

Ebay say the wrong email address was on the PP details so I asked
for another invoice, as they told me to do.

Here's what worries me. This new email address is not linked to the sale
or even with Ebay. Seems to me like you see a guy that works in a shop
and give him £50 saying " Here's £50 for that XYZ, I'll be in tomorrow "
You go into shop and say " I gave so'n'so £50 for that XYZ " and they
    " Who ? "

That's the thing how can you prove that the money sent to the other
address had anything to do with a sale, Ebay says it's nothing to do
with them as it's not through them but that I'm covered by PayPal.

Got another one who say use Buy it Now then pay me the couriers
    fees seperate through PP.

Both of these are 1st time sellers.

    Feedback needed guys

  3. Dave T I was watching that Washburn B10 then at last minute thought " no let it go ".
Glad I did now cause I'd have been buying just cause the price was good, already
    have 2 B10's, a fretless and a 5 string ( B105), B20 as well.

Better the young fella got a good bass than fill space here in Falkirk

  4. AT I think Washburn ripped off Tune as much as they could with the ABT series. Extending the neck would have been
too blatant so they went with the half measure, and that didn't work.

Later they put the B32 out with a PJ just like the
B30. Hardly a groundbreaking move, don't think they sold too well, see ABT B10s and B20s for sale just not B30s and
    I only know of one B32 ( it's in Germany ) .

  5. With the Curbow body being so small it needs some kind of feature. There's none here.
Years back Tune did a model with a pizeo bridge, but so it looked right they extended
    the neck.

    The Washburn version didn't

And suffered as a result. Same problem with the Curbow, no defining feature.
Might be the photo but I'm not awfy struck on the colour,in a pub gig or unless
stagelights are great this is never getting seen.

    Just my 2p

  6. If anyone's interested Cash Generator in Liverpool has two of these for sale.
Saw these this morning going for £140 free delivery.

I don't work for Cash Generator so I'm not plugging them but if these are as good
as the Cort versions some leftie might get themselves a belter of a Bass.

    Cheers K.B

  7. Great bass. Toying with getting a Spalted Tanglewood to go with the Cort.
Like yourself I've never noticed any difference with the ebonol or the size,
shape. I like how though 34" they're so small, I've a Dean Evo short scale
    that's bigger than the Curbow.

That's it next to a Mikro though an they're 28", Still dwarfed by the TeleBass.

  8. Gotcha AT only mentioned the mockingbird cos was gonna bid £95 at 42 secs then didn't.

Looked at some strange things an Ali Baba today, See-Thru with leds, horns carved as snakes,
won't post until I hear back from the companies with prices and shipping. Can't do final figures
    with import costs without them.

  9. The mockingbird deserves to be over £300. It's a Beauty, there was one with Quilted Maple went
for £85 or £88 last night on Ebay. Had a wee bit damage on the back but still with £15 postage
    somebody got a bargain.

Chase are selling a Tanglewood Canyon III in Spalted on Ebay just now.

£299.99 big discount from the norm of £399. But is it the best looking ? Reminds me of a Curbow
and I like Curbows. Fretless looks even better but can't load a picture of one so here's the link.

    Larger image 2 .

  10. Here's a pic of the sunburst version AT

Looks a lot better. I don't understand why they would use a dark stain on the other one, Yet that
was the most common version I saw when having a look.

Spotted this Stagg on Ebay for £170 BIN.

    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Stagg-Wooden-Electric-Bass-/291137701399?pt=UK_Musical_Instruments_Guitars_CV&hash=item43c928c617

Don't think it's really a great looker though, headstock looks wrong to me

  11. Delberthot at £130 I wouldnae hing aboot.

AT and TheGreek it seems like anything at good prices don't get mentioned Seems strange that with so many available below
£300, there must be loads sold, reviews are sparse. I mean the market must be huge.

I don't think the V10004 looks that good. Just the same as countless others. My Zygote looks different but whether it looks great
    is down to opinion.

But it's £319 so doesn't count in the thread.

AT have you saw these Ibanez 5 stringers in Spalted Maple

Nice enough in the Charcoal Brown though they do it in Sunburst too. £229.
Fair bit of Bass at that money

  12. The Oregon is too wide in the middle I think and the 6'er neck doesn't help matters.

I've had a look at veneers and they're not cheap typically £65/75 so that probably
    adds £100.

The Vintage are listed discontinued at some places, out of stock others and the price
blew it right out of the thread the one place I found it £400.

  13. I agree with you on the angled pickups and squaring them off by routing and adding bigger pickups ain't an option,
volume knob is too close and defeats the purpose of Great Looks.

Can't help with Spalted tops but I just saw this on Gear4Music

    http://images.gear4music.com/media/8574/600/preview.jpg

    Maple,Mahogany thru neck
    Ash body
    24 frets
Active £178 oh and you get a Hard Case with it.

Can't vouch for the Bass but it sure is pretty

    What's your thoughts ? [attachment=161897:preview.jpg]

  14. That sure is brawl. I think we're spoilt for choice
in the £300 price range. There's just that much
    variety, £300 getting you 5 strings,fretless, etc.

I keep looking at those thru neck Bentons, since I got
that one last month I've no qualms about another Benton.

Same goes for the Retrovibes. Great basses on all
counts, looks, sound, build and playing. More than
happy with my Evo and Zygote.

  15. Go a bit different. The Retrovibes go for round the £300 mark. Both of mines are quality and
    a joy to play.

Mind you same can be said for my Washburns,Westones and Ibanez, The 30 year old Bass
Collection still stands out, if you see one try it you won't be disappointed.

The Harley Bentons sold by Thomann are good and half your budget. A thru neck 5 string for
    £177 or the JB 20 for £80

    http://www.thomann.de/gb/harley_benton_mb222t.htm

£200 will get you a Cort Curbow or £50/60 a Peavey Milestone III.Mines get played at least
    twice a week.

Whatever you go for you can't really miss.

Damn! time to get £300 together and go bass buying.

  16. Hey Chris I know what you mean about build quality. I've a couple of Retros, an Evo and the Zygote
both very good basses. Slimmer neck on the Zygote. Just wondering about your pickups though,
the ones on mines Damn they're loud. Are you finding the same ? I'm gonna lower them and see
if it helps, mind you it's easier just to roll the volume back.

Braw looking Bass, Dave from Probass certainly did his homework when desigining them.

    Enjoy your Bass
