Here's how much of a muppet I am sometimes; they're on their way out. Please lock it up!

Aged 67. Just some food for thought! -
My bad, I thought the titled implied it was a giveaway. I wasn't too sure if there was anything that people wanted them for free or not. Cheers for the heads up.

I'm currently going on a binge to try all kinds of strings. I'm testing them on my Musicman Bongo and so far, I've had some rather interesting results. If there's any you'd be able to recommend, please do. Feel free to chip in!
From my experiences so far, this is what I've got from the strings.

Not too bad. Nice for a fingerstyle tone and but leave bit to be desired, pretty average from what I've found. Didn't last a particularly long time!

The stainless steel took a while getting used to but wasn't too bad after that. These sound great and really have the clarity I desire from strings but could be a bit brash and sharp for others. Unfortunately, these died after about 3 gigs.

Worst Timing!
Best of luck to you! -
I would be!
-
I may well be able to go for this. Pop me down as a maybe!
-
Excellent suggestions, everyone.
I must admit, they sure are coming up as rather expensive. Though I haven't checked Thailand, I saw the basses in Japan and South Korea are probably more expensive than the US counterparts. I must be missing something, right? -
Hey, sellisnba
If you can trek to Plymouth, I'd recommend getting in contact with a guy named Ian Randell. He does AWESOME setups. He's mostly a guitar teacher by day (or night) but I'd recommend checking him out. -
I would be! My Mom's place is just down by Newton Abbot, so I'd be definitely up for a good ol' meet-up.
-
Alrighty, I need to finish it off first myself. I can assure you, for even an advanced player, it'll take you at least two weeks solidly to polish it off. It's a real ball breaker!
-
Would anyone be interested?
-
I'd thoroughly recommend a Musicman, but not quite the Stingray. I'd honestly opt for a Musicman Bongo to try out. Especially a HH model, if you can!
If you're at the mini-bash on the 31st, you're more than welcome to give it a whirl. -
Email sent. Can't wait!
-
Thanks for all of the responses so far, guys.
Keep 'em coming! -
As the title says, folks. I have no idea if these would go at all, but it's worth a shot, right? PM me for details.

I need to get my eyes tested. I read the title of this thread as "Getting a bass in Asda?".
I have nothing useful to contribute.

I wouldn't worry, that made me laugh heartily.

Asia? A very big place is Asia.
Yeah, I was being horrifically unspecific, right? I'm looking at any of the big cities because I'm not sure where my first contract will be, so at the risk of seeming a bit vague, I might as well. -
These look promising.
In terms of purchasing a bass, I meant where in any of the countries like China, S.Korea etc... would I find something decent? -
As the title says. The guys in the states like us limey buggers so much they threw in a spare B with each package I bought. Not too shabby, right? So, I'd like to spread the good spirit and give them to anyone who needs a spare low B. Message me for more details.

I am about to go on a hotel gig in Asia and I'm looking for something to use whilst I'm over there. I intend to use my first months pay ($2000USD) to purchase a 5 string. Has anyone had any experience over with our friends in the east? I'd idealistically like to hunt down something like a Sadowsky or another MM Bongo. Any ideas, chaps and chapettes?

In terms of gear, I can bring these:
Basses
- Musicman Bongo 4HH
- Yamaha TRB1005
- Ibanez SR800 (w/Barts. Super Pedulla mimic)
Amp stuff
- MarkBass F1 head
- MarkBass 2x10 -
Only JUST noticed this. This is literally down the road from me and I would love to go to this event. Where do I sign up? I've got some gear to offer for the event too.
-
Anything a bit smaller than a 4x10? Something that's 2x?? would be ideal for me!
-
I have a MarkBass F1 head. Incredible head when I tried it through a random cabinet for a jam session but I haven't got a cab of my own. I've got about £250 for one and I'm unsure what to try and what to look for. Suggestions?
