Here's a pic of one guy playing with his while another guy reaches around and plays too. All the while, another guy looks on and fiddles.
Haha nearly spat tea over the keyboard.
I let the ol' '91 go. I didn't like how highly strung she was -
They do come up from time to time - in fact Noirpunk on here got offered one for £40 - and refused! Admittedly he was playing out in Hungary & getting it back would probably have been a pain.
I still curse myself for that, should've gone with the gut instinct and bought it.
I could've lowered that action with some perseverance dagnabbit!
Lovely punchy sound to it aswell
-
If I had my own studio space I'd love that for recording guitar (specifically anything 70s classic rock sounding).
Marc Bolan used to use those heads Got a thing for his guitar tone -
We might have to change the title of the thread to TallyCrap Spotting:

Is the light attracting them or what?

That ones exactly like mine - minus the thumb rest and bridge cover of course.
Looks like I got mine on the cheap! Won't cost much to add the missing parts with aftermarket ones if I really wanted to either. -
nah sorry , wasn't very clear.
What I mean is it looks like a standard Thunderbird with the bottom half mirrored on top so it's got two rounded horns at the neck end -
Does anyone know what make/model the bass is that Leon Wilkeson played on the 'Old Grey Whistle Test' in 1975. Looks a bit like Entwhistles Fenderbird but slightly different. Sorta like the Thunderbird mirrored
-
haha aye probably.
to be fair mines put together very well. the pieces are dovetailed together -
It's a 3 piece mine. You can see better with this pic
-
There's mine for reference. as you can see it's the same but mines missing the thumb rest and bridge cover.
Same notch in the scratchplate for the truss -
looks nice, shame its priced at about twice as much as what he could get for it
Aye, I quite willingly paid £60 for mine on spec - the necks solid maple so it was worth it for the parts. -
That melody is identical to that P-Bass I picked up, albeit a darker stain
This one has the thumb rest and bridge cover mine is missing - same scratchplate holes aswell.
So my P is Italian then? -
My beautiful '91 is now in reading.
I hope none of those more famous bassists play her -

And don't get me started on how chuffed I am to finally have a rack that requires a two-handed lift
bahaha, dear this thread does make me laugh.
I'm very much looking forward to trying my '91 with my 12" horn driver -
Amen to that! I'm sure she'll be highly sort after, take good care of her and you'll have a valuable investment in your hands in no time at all!
Yes indeed. She's very much suited to my preferences. Infact she screamed out to me -
Chinese knock off.
Look on DH-Gate and there's lots on there. Same stock picture to boot -
It won't be long before he covers it in glitter....
lol! I'm sure it'll rock your world! IMHO, as sweetly as she plays now, given a few years of bedding in ( ) she'll knock your socks off!
Definately, she's in beautiful shape and she can only get better with age. Great pedigree aswell, British with a bit of Spanish heritage. Needless to say that bottom end is something else. She's a bit longer scale (seeing as I'm not exactly a tall dude) than what I'm used to dealing with but I've been assured there's not a problem -
lets just hope my '85 never sees this topic
Indeed. I'm yet to give me '91 a play yet I'm looking forward to plugging in, although it could be some time haha -
Leopard print is NEVER off-topic!
Good man. Talking of which I went to see the Manics last night, seen them a few times now and I was rather dissapointed that Nick wasn't wearing any!
However... I DID get my Italia signed yaaay -
I've got a stunning fireglo '85, she's taken a few knocks from previous keepers so I needed to gently restore her to her former glory. She's got a few mods, not as many as I've seen, but tastefully done nonetheless...her control cavity is immaculate, her inputs a good tight fit, all her knobs and buttons respond as they should. She's got an incredible tight bottom, gorjus mids and her top's impressively rounded she loves fingerstyle, but give the low end a tweek and she responds very well to a bit of slap. You can play her all night long without gettin tired, and I've never found the excessive neckdive a problem
I think the neckdive comment makes you the current leader in imaginative descriptives haha -
I hope my new '91s piclup is as responsive as my old '86s.
-
Top man,
Very good communications and friendly to boot.
Very pleased with my Superfly, can't wait to give it a blast in the practice room.
Cheers -
Sorry if this is incredibly off-topic, but you have the bigger brother of my lil leopard!
Nice to see I'm not the only leopard printed fiend on here haha
-
My '91s previous owner didn't give her a lot of action.
I'll have to make up for that and give her plenty of attention.
Have to see if she responds better to fingers, picking or slapping
Hope she's as loud as the '86 I used to own, she made Lemmy sound quiet -
This '91 I'm afters been re-finished AGAIN.
Blonde to Wine Red now! my favourite finish

The Royal(e) Electra bass. As played by Pepsi Tate most notably.
Anyone ever tried or seen one?
