1. Interesting find!!
Found a swedish website selling the Shine Rickenfaker with a major difference to the model on the Shine site.
The headstock is the same!
Looks an absolute beauty - however £500 is a bit much

2. yeah I could but I don't think I will. Can't really be bothered risking it on that bass in the shape it was in. Plus it wasn't very accurate at all. the only thing that was correct was the body and headstock shape.

3. I was on easyjet. As such no instruments allowed as hand luggage and the guy only had a gig bag for it.
I was looking at the setup. The neck was bowed like hell. When I get my photos back I'll show you a pic of me playing the actual bass.
I have to be fair though, aside from the god awful action the weight balance was great and the sound suprisingly good.
Have I made a massive mistake here?

4. Seriously???
It was the version with the set neck aswell. I've been after a Rickenfaker as you know but that thing played like sh*t. My hand was killing after the show

5. Got back from Hungary today.
Headlined a festival out there, the lead singer sorted out the gear we borrowed for the weekend and I ended up playing a Jolana D bass.

Neck was like a tree and the action was so high I could slide my passport underneath. I was offered it for £40 but declined..

6. ah sorry should've gone into more detail. I'm after a decent full scale neck. Really I'm looking for a Rickenfaker with a bolt on neck that's seen better days body wise. Something That I can pick up for reasonable money and use as a donor.
I'm a bit gutted that I missed that neck on ebay a few weeks ago, if I knew I could've got this bas built then I'd have bought that

7. Never ever played it. I'll ask the boys, I'm the new kid haha.
I've been quoted £200 for a Rickenbacker shape provided I can provide the bits n bobs to go on the body.
Anyone know of a butchered bolt on 4001 copy I can get my hands on as a doner?

8. METAL GUITAR MAN

Yeah I've played one of his telecasters, top guitars..
I'm still waiting on a quote, I should imagine it's going to be around 6/700.
I'm torn though. I don't know wether I want a Rickenbacker shape or a Gretsch singlecut shape.

That's the link to my bands page, there's music on there. Let me know which style you think would suit best.
Cheers

9.
Why don't you 'lotsnipe' it? :)
I could do, then again I've found a bloke who custom makes guitars and basses from metal. So I might just get myself a Metalbacker instead. It'll cost less than the Ricky and I'll like it more for being individual.

10. Yeah, to be honest despite the lack of bridge cover and the bolt on neck it's gonna be fine for me. I want a Rickenfaker workhorse, the bridge cover would get in the way of my playing

11. That's the thing. I REALLY want a Rickenfaker but I don't want to go overboard. Really I wanna be looking at £350 at a stretch. Thing is I know the bidding will likely get crazy in the last day or two of the auction.
What's intensly annoying is I won't be at home to bid in the last day because I'm gigging in Hungary. Just typical of my luck really, nothing for a while then as soon as one pops up I'm not here to bid

12. That last one was without a doubt the most stunning copy I've seen yet. I love the finish.

And for the record. Anyone willing to spend that kinda money on an instrument that's so unversatile is a fool. How does Rickenbacker think they're going to attract younger musicians? Your average young guitarist isn't gonna spend a couple of hundred on a Rick when they can get a more versatile Fender or Gibson or whatever for less.
