  1. If i'm using all 'normal' pedals then the ZGP goes between the wall power supply and the daisy chain. If i'm using it for pedals and Zoom B3n then it goes on the daisy chain plug that goes to the Zoom. It usually takes a bit of jiggling plugs around to find which bit of the chain doesn't interfere with other bits..!

  2. Heehee! Oops! Its amazing what triggers of an argument.. . :D

I suppose i'm thinking of it as a software thing, where instructions run in the order you put them - you're right, i shall twiddle knobs and see what comes out the other end... ;D

  3. Silly question probably, but what order do Eqs eq stuff in? Because...

I have a guitar eq pedal that i like to use to cut 400 hz and boost 1khz. I also have a zoom b3n that has a bass equaliser it, which doesn't have a 400hz 'slider'. So if i was to set say 2 parametric Eqs as 'pedals' one after the other, boosting the 1khz and cutting the 400 hz, is that the same? Or is my whole signal going to  be 1khz-ed and then 400hz-ed?

I know i could just use the EQ pedal in front of the zoom, but the point of it (for me) is to only have one box to carry about, not a pedal board...

Israel is there to normalise your perception of it and advertise it as a tourist destination - there’s more to it than just ethnic cleansing, you know.

See also pretty much everything 'sportsy' being called 'the Emirates' something something... People keep telling me 'ooh, go on hols to Dubai! You'd love it!' Um, if they let me in at all i'd be arrested at the airport for just existing!

Ironically i have enough jewish ancestry that i'm allowed to go live in Israel if i wanted to...!

Top Tip: It's all in the ghost notes.

Hahaha that thumbnail is just every reason  you shouldn't slap... you'll look like that guy... :

I've actually seen some of his videos and hes knowledgeable and a good instructor but oh gods that strap! Gurl! Are you trying to hide that shirt cos I can see why, but seriously you're making George formby's ghost wonder about trademark infringement..!!

  6. To be fair, i have literally just got to grips with mine after a year and a half - its been up for sale about 3 times..! :D I think part of it is there are just so many options! I deleted a load of the presets because they were just distractingly weird - and went on youtube watching lots or 'rig rundowns' and those things where they get the master tape of a song and then show you how they do each bit:

"Oh, that's what an SVT really sounds like? Ok, note to self, never buy one..."

A big difference i found between modellers and other types of effects is that because they're modelling an actual thing, like a "UREI 1176LN" compressor, you have to actually learn how to properly do compression or it sounds pants...!

  7. My school choir (damn my descant was awesome..!) once spontaneously dropped the bassline to 'Hit the road jack' into 'God rest ye merry Gentlemen', going 'Joy, joy joy joy' after 'tidings of comfort and joy' bit. It became the official version.. :D

Ok, here's a dare - drop in something by Marilyn Manson (rules: none of the covers or stuff off of Mechanical Animals that's blatantly ripping off Bowie) and i will donate a tenner to the charity of your choice. Video evidence needed, obvs...

I first read this as "When did churches go mental?" - which is a completely different question! 🙂

Apart from the (to me) bizzare fact that there is Christian Metal - why not use the best available technology of the time to make the best possible sound? A cathedral organ sounds old fashioned to us, but they are the most complicated musical instruments ever made and were the cutting edge tech of the day.

We could get into a thread derail here that would get us told off on the 'no religion' rule, so i won't... :D

Christian metal makes no sense to me either, however..! TBH any kind of music where the lyrical content is restricted to one subject confuses me a bit! Yes i am looking at you Pete 'how do you write a pop song without the word 'love' in it?' Waterman..!

I think I whipped through the built in patches on the B3n in the first 10 minutes of firing it up then never went there again! I just start from scratch each time.

@operative451, I can't recall if it was your post that pointed me to the Joyo ZGP, but I picked one up and it works really well. I wanted to test a single pedal direct into my audio interface last night so just used the supply from my B3n and the noise was horrendous. Then remembered I bought the ZGP a few days ago and hand't yet tried it, and it made it totally silent!

Yay! Yeah, its a super useful thing - also if you're powering other pedals with a daisy chain, it stops them picking up the 'dial-up' noise from the B3n.. :D

  10. Also re the 'keeping it simple' comments above - all the effects on this are actually an old Zoom 505. Still got mine and one of the things i do like about it is lack of tweakability.. Compression knee, attack ratio? No idea what that is but i've got Comp1-9 and one of them will probably do.. :D

  11. Noodling around last night, does the B1-four have the Squeak Rock patch? I've stuck a small reverb, put the blend to about 40% on the 'Squeak' and boosted the bottom on the speaker cab and it sounds brutal... :D Gives me a nice 'thrum' feeling in my upper belly.. :D

  12. Where is your band playing? This sounds right up my alley... or have you anything on YouTube?

Also: personally I like a wildly inappropriate cover version,  so anything girls aloud or kylie stuck through a p-funk metal blender would be my suggestion... :D probably not helpful if your singer is all 'popular = crap'..

  13. I do this with my b3n when I'm away for work (another reason not to sell it!). Laptop into zoom via the aux and out to headphones,  it works well!

I have played around with audio interfaces and then vst amps but unless your computer is bonkersly fast theres always latency.  Plus somehow faffing with vst plugins is less fun than actual musical kit somehow...!
