  1. No, to be honest I never played a P/J Mike Lull (I liked the youtube files). I Just want to try one because nowadays Stu Cook himself uses this bass in his band "Creence Clearwater Revisited". I still use my original Fender '68 precision as my main bass on gigs and the Pino P- as a back-up. Don't get me wrong! The Pino P- certainly doesn't have to go! it is one of the best precisions I've ever played..... but only since Stu is playing one nowadays and I'm in a CCR tribute band myself I might trade it for a Lull to be used as a back-up or who knows...maybe as mainbass!

  2. I've decided to go for a straight sale so I can chase a new Mike Lull PJ5!
    Asking 1850 Pound / 2290 EURO

The bass is in good condition! Comes with original (used)case, tags, belt,... only the CS certificate is missing.
(The original owner - the bassplayer of "White Wizzard" who bought the bass new at Guitarshop in Hollywood says it was not included when he bought it :-()

  3. Hi! A little while ago I got myself a Aguilar DB751amp in a tradedeal and I have a question about this amp.Maybe there is someone out there who can give me some feedback!
I use my DB751 with a Hevos Powerset cab combination. This combination (2x10 @ 8 Ohm + 1x15@ 8 Ohm) can take more than 1000 real Watts at 4 Ohm. I play old Fender Precision basses.
My input gain is set about "11h55" to get a clean smooth warm and "not disturbed" sound. This sounds really great! Everything is very fine as long as the volume knob is set 'lower than' or on the 12 o clock position. Now when I am increasing the volume and turn the volume knob over halfway, I mean over the "12 o'Clock" position my sound is being very transformed, distorted... all the deep tones disapeares... It just doesn't sound deep, warm and clean anymore. I've tryed to lower the input gain but this doesn't help. As soon as the volume goes more than halfway (12 o'clock position) the sound is transforming very much! Is there anyone else who is expieriencing this? Is this normal or is there something wrong with my amp, tubes, or is it my cabs...

Here is a link to my cab combination :

  4. I'm thinking of selling or trading my Rickenbacker 4003 Fireglo from 2006. It comes with original hardcase, optional invisible thumb rest, bridge cover, Deluxe Treble pickup bezel and push / pull switch capacitor (for the 4001 sound). The bass is in good condition! Has only 2 small dings in the neck (see photo).

  5. Thanks guy's,
I just went to a store where I was able to play the Aggie as well as a heritage SVT Classic and compare it with my fafner II.
I must say that I fell for the Aggie! The difference in sound with my fafner was big enough to make me change my set-up! The SVT did sound very nice too but I found the Aggie was a bit warmer and smoother and it was nicer (softer...cant find the right words) in the higher frequenties! That together with the weight made me decide to go for the Aggie!
So if anyone is interested, my Fafner II is now in the "for sale" section! :-)

  6. For Sale: EBS Fafner II - Extreme Edition Dual Channel, 750 W RMS Armed Tube Bass Head.
This amp is like new and has always been in a rack case! I would like to get € 1450 (= 1140 GBP) for the amp or fair offer. The optional "EBS RM-4 footswitch control" is included!
The amp is in perfect condition, I sell this only because I need a different (vintage) sound! Therefore the only possible trade is a trade with an Aguilar DB751 or 750 (or maybe a Ampeg SVT Classic USA)

    Specs :

    Input Impedance 2 Mohms
    Frequency Response 20 - 20.000 Hz
    Hi and Lo Preshape EQ,
    Individual and Common Effect Loops,
    Soft Switch
Remotes for Drive, Mute, Filter and
Character Preshape EQs,
    Dual Balanced Outputs
    Speaker impedance 2 - 8 ohms
    Continuous Output Power
    750 W RMS @ 2 ohms,
    >600 W RMS @ 4 ohms

    Weight 16 kg / 36 lbs

  7. Hi, I am thinking about replacing my EBS Fafner 2 With a Aggie DB 751 or a Ampeg SVT Classic. It is not that my Fafner2 doesn't sound good but most of the time I play a CCR-tribute repertoire and I use my '68 Precision to do so. Don't get me wrong, The fafner2 is a fantastic amp and it has so (read "to") much possibility's in it but I only use it flat for my sound. I think overall it is sounding a little to "modern" for my needs.
I see Stu Cook himself is playing the Aguilar. That means something.
I never played an Aguilar DB or a SVT Classic so if anyone could help me with they're experiences with both or either of these amps and differences it would be very helpfull for me.
For cabs I use a Hevos Powerset (it's a dutch company). They are lite and the sound is just fantastic, even at (very) high volumes! very powerfull and warm! So I'm keeping these! Any feedback or input is welcome!

    Thx,
    Dirk

  8. Hi,
I would like to see if there is somebody interested to trade his Vintage 4001 or his 4003 Rickenbacker for my 2009 Fender Custom Shop '64 relic Jazz bass in red with matching Headstock, in original CS case and with certificat.
I prefer a Rickenbacker in fireglo but every offer is welcome!

    Thanks for looking,
    Dirk
