Can I claim a prize for best misreading of the title? I saw 'Yo' and thought 'Yö' http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L8Om_lcFRlk

Hmmm I like that Idea. Just nick it from a film or song. But then again I like the throw the poop at a wall Idea too....

'Throw the Poop'. One new band name, free of charge.
Oh, I see you're in Oxfordshire as well....kindly keep away from my walls when throwing poop! -
I remember Columbus basses as cheap and nasty Jazz copies, but saw one a couple of weeks ago in natural finish which was definitely solid wood. It is possible that it was a Columbus neck on a different body, but the owner seemed sure it was all original.

I always, without exception, get lost driving through Stockholm. All those tunnels and microscopic direction signs! Hope you have more luck than I ever have finding your way around.
-
I've just finished reading all 3 threads over the last 24 hours, it's almost impossible to stop once you get started.
-
That is beautiful, already looking around for things to sell.

I discussed which cab would be best for me with Alex before ordering as well, and the only confirmation of my deposit payment was from paypal, which is enough for me.
-
I'm sure it's a perfectly good amp, I can't think why you don't value it.
-
Oh god, hope my back can take three more months of the 410.

It'll probably (be the best you've ever sounded and might) be the last cab you'll ever buy.

That's what I told my wife! -

Seconded. I know Discreet had his, er, hopes up

If either of you were to meet me, you'd be greatly relieved that you were wrong! -
Just paid the deposit on a Barefaced Super Twelve in order to prevent my Ashdown ABM 410 from killing me. I swear someone is slowly filling it with bars of lead when I'm not looking, everytime I have to lift it into or out of the car it seems heavier.
I'll be using it with my Ashdown ABM 500 (an older English one, not the current Chinese version).
Wish me luck with the wait! -

Tell him to move, it's nice in St Albans!
I can try, but it's pretty good round here as well. And we'd need a new harp player! -
I'm playing with one this evening, but reckon he is also a couple of hours away from St Albans.

I've nonly been playing 40 years, so have not yet graduated beyond 4 strings. I might do so when I'm about 90.

Cheap empty 1x15 cab here: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Empty-unloaded-compact-ASHDOWN-MAG-115-15-BASS-CABINET-/161010445447?pt=UK_ConElec_SpeakersPASystems_RL&hash=item257cf86c87
(nothing to do with me, I just saw it earlier when looking for something else) -
I'm pretty sure there was a 1x15 bass combo as well. So many old valves around in the 70s I never took much notice of them!

Don't worry, mate, she's settling in to her new home very well. Can't believe how many memories come flooding back when I play the Westone. Serial number makes it a 1982 model, same as the the first one I bought new. Taking this one to the pub jam tonight and leaving the Fender at home.
-
The bass is in better condition than the description suggested, and plays like butter. It's on my lap as I type.
-
Bought a Westone Thunder 1 bass from Pestie today, bass is lovely, he and his wife and dog were all very friendly sand pleasant when I called round. The bass is a cracker, it plugged in right now and is even better than my last one was, 30 years ago. All round top bloke.

Oh good call on AL. I remember seeing that documentary about Rockpile that that clip is taken from and doing the whole dropped jaw thing that Edmunds, Lowe, Lynott and Huey Lewis are doing. A truly original voice back then, copied a fair bit since, but never equalled.
Another original voice on guitar, and one that I've not heard anyone copy, is Richard Thompson. A guy who really pushes the envelope in note choices, but who just makes it work.
I was in the audience when Richard Thompson recorded for Radio 1 'In Concert' in 1981/2. Took me a few minutes to work out where the extra guitar was coming from, then spotted a familiar frizzy-haired tele player hiding at the back. Yup, Albert Lee and Richard Thompson on stage together in front of about 200 people. -

Worth it though, the view is quite spectacular.

sh*t scarey, actually. I've been over it twice on my bike and had no idea I could hold my breath for for so long. -

Kiitos, samoin. -
Hi everyone, just signed up. Messed around with bass since I was about 16, which is quite a while ago. Lived in Finland for many years (hence my name) and moved back to Oxfordshire a couple of months ago.
Currently annoying people with a Fender Jazz US standard and an Ashdown ABM 500 plus 410 cab.

My second wife was very anti-bass, she used to say that if I started playing in bands again, I'd be out late in clubs, meet younger, prettier women and want them instead of her. I honoured her wishes and put the playing on hold, but did end up leaving her for a younger, prettier woman, so I guess she had a point!
Number three is very supportive of my playing and encourages me to buy more and play in bands. She doesn't seem to have the worries #2 had, or maybe she is smart enough to realize that I am getting past the stage of attracting younger, prettier women, etc!
