1. Gargh!! How about a change of topic to something controversial? That might help get the thread locked.. ... I do believe that my Vantage Bass has a far superior Jazz tone to any of you plebian's 'custom-manufactured' rowing paddles!! *sigh* I never sound cool when i try this hard
  2. I agree that locking this thread (for now anyway) would seem a good idea. Tensions are always gonna be higher when we're all tired and grumpy, and it may be best to sleep things off until the morning. It'd be a shame if anyone said anything that they'd regret later. How about we all just sit down with a bucket o' houmous, and settle this later?
  3.
I think a lot of the problem comes with impulsive decisions. A lot of people may see something they think they want then PM the seller thinking they have to get in first before anyone else. They then realise after a day or so, actually I really don't want this and the deal breaks down. That's the way of the internet and it will always be here, its just one of the negatives out of selling your stuff for free. Something isn't sold until the money is in your account/hand etc. What really bugs me though is when people comment on other people's prices in their thread. Or say you have no chance in selling x for y amount. A simple PM would be a lot better. The buyer also has the right to sell an item for however much or little as they like as it has a certain value to them. I have no problem with offers - if it’s not enough then just decline. What's the big deal?
That pretty much sums up my views on this; apart from the last point. I think the big deal is that this never used to happen. People are used to it on larger places, but this has always seemed like a fairly tightly-knit group of people. I guess it's a sign that this forum isn't what it used to be in some respects. It's definitely not all bad; the more people, the merrier in many ways. I guess many people (me included (i only just signed up, but have been watching for a while)) liked it as a small community, where people knew most other people, and could trust them. Especially with the amount of people who sign up specifically to sell/ buy things. Ah well. I guess it doesn't seem great right now, but I'm sure it'll grow on me Clagooey
  4. Price added! (better late than never I guess..)
  5.
mine lasted 2.5 years before I managed to chip the headstock (tiny stage, 80s style upward facing wall-light fitting)
Rooms smaller than a Cathedral hall.. a Bongo owner's nemesis! Seriously though, they really are ruddy massive beasts!
  6. Mmm, true. I'd be looking for around £900, including hard case. However, i'm probably going to leave it now. I can't risk selling my main bass, and relying on a MIM 5 string Fender Jazz. Trades are still welcome, so i won't give up on this thread! But I won't really bump this thread no more. Ah well! Cheers guys, Clagooey
  7. Bumpy bumpy bump bump bump.. Does no-one else appreciate their subtle beauty and monster tone (ooh, contrast!)? I'm willing to consider pretty much anything: trade, part exchange, cash only etc. I know i sound desperate, but i hate perusing eBay so much!
  8.
So no cash price then? trades only?
I'm not really too sure! i'm open to pretty much anything. I could probably be pursuaded to sell it for the right price, but i'd just end up using that money to buy another bass from here! The basses that come up on ebay can't really compare to the ones that pop up around this forum to be frank! So yeah; hit me up with an reasonable offer and we can go from there? Though i will say that i've become annoyingly interested in aqcuiring something odd: i.e., a bass with silly number of strings, fretless basses, headless basses, ones with interesting designs, ones which just look really 'cool' etc. I *really* like that 7 string Zia that's appeared on here recently.. but i don't think this would be enough for some reason! Such is life.. Clagooey
  9.
how on earth did just the headstock get worn?
Because it's a silly massive bass! When i bought it, it was kept in a padded soft case. Which, along with pretty much every other case, is too small for this bass. I'm assuming that the finish rubbed off on the tip because it was constantly in contact with the fabric of the case? I don't really know to be honest.. But i don't think i'm the only person to have this problem?
I find them ugly but I'd love to try one as they seem very popular.
Many people do.. i really like their design for some reason though! They seem a bit different in person, mind. I just like it because it sounds awesome, and the 4 band EQ is silly-good. In my opinion anyway..
  10.
An abalone fingerboard! Now that's something! (you may want to change that to abalone pickguard )
Maybe.. *sheepish smile* Thanks for that though! That should teach me to do these things at such stupid hours in the morning.. Clagooey
  11. Hi guys, Been a hoverin' around here for a while, and finally decided to make a post. I currently possess a black 5 string Music Man Bongo with double humbuckers and an abalone pickguard. [s]Unfortunately i don't have any pictures of mine, but here's a picture i nabbed of the internet until i get some sorted[/s] Here are some lovely pictures: It's in pretty good nick at the moment. Tip of the headstock's a bit worn, and there's a small 2mm bump on the upper side, but that's about it. Photos should help this.. It comes with the official musicman hardcase (annoying story.. it didn't come with one, and this seems to be the ONLY case which fits this beast. It's just too damn big! And the only place to get this case is from Thomann for £140!! But i digress..). I'm thinking of selling this to go for something a bit more.. interesting, shall we say? I saw a Mazeti 7 string fretless on ebay which seemed a bit quirky, so something like that really (although obviously i'd be looking for something a *little* higher quality). Anything to make my practice harder! [s]I'm not really looking for cash offers only; i'm more interested in some kind of swap. So PM me, or post me some ideas here, and let's see what we come up with![/s] I've decided to put a price on this bad boy, as i've seen a bass i rather like, and thus need fundage. I bought this second hand for £700 (gotta love eBay!) without the hard case (which was £140), so i think i price of £770 would be fair? This includes the bass, the hard case, and a new, unused set of D'Addario strings. Lets see if the Bongo market is a feeble as the Stingray market.. Thanks, Clagooey EDIT: Probably should've mentioned that I live in Reading.. Anyone with a serious interest is more than welcome to have a play as well EDIT 2: Photos now added These have all been resized (stupid 12mp camera) and cropped (stupid furry carpet), but I'm sure I can provide people with the original 'high-quality' photos should they want them! EDIT 3: Price
