1. Out of interest does anybody know the original sale prices?. Thanks.
2. I'm jealous lol. You really can't knock roadstars.
3. Current. G and L 2000 87ish, musicman bfr redwood 4h, ibanez atk 300, ibanez roadstar, ns design 4eub, starforce p bass copy which I defretted and took a spoke shave to the body and repainted. Past krama frettless probably 70's sold part exchanged for the gl, dayon p bass copy.
4.
The pickups ate the SAME in both US and Tribute models. All US made. To say they're "half decent" in the Tribute is just plain wrong.
I stand corrected, even if there cheaper made versions as whats on the US model there gonna be good. even looks like they got the adjustable poles in the pickups.
boy i lustered for it but for £1.6K, my missus would skin me alive
You know you wanna
5.
For the price, how much different are both the tribute and the US L2000? Surely I hope you know that BSB
lol crash n burn swamp ash maple top with a mapple neck and dam good bridge with half decent pickups, good for the money I say. Us is solid adler body, neck is slightly different same width at nut but larger radius, rock maple neck, roswood finger board or ebony as in the 30th anniversary, the full monty on the pickups eletrics and tunning pegs lol I`m selling another one to myself here, well worth the money.
6.
It might do constructionally, but how about for transmitting sound waves? Since the glue joint is stronger than the actual wood it is joining it will have made a difference to how the wood resonates compared with using a single non-glued piece.
lol I`m feeling picked on any joint will detract I would of thought but the better the join the better the transmition of vibration between then, kinda like bolt on and thru body neck construction.
7.
But how does that relate to multiple pieces of wood glued together? Very few bodies are made from a single piece of wood. Simply gluing two pieces together to produce a body with a join at the centre gives you 8 different options. You can also bet that most gluing decisions are based on what looks good first and foremost.
good point. if glued correctly in a vice under a bit of pressure the wood will soak the glue up bonding the two together making it act like a single piece of wood and the joint will be stronger then the wood its self.
8. Thats nice like it lots and if it plays like sh*t will still make a nice wall hanger.
9. Cant say about the tribute not got or played one but my G and L 2000 has my Stingray for breakfast. would say the sr neck feels slightly wider then the GL although in todays world there both no twigglets.
10. anything on the back of the body is fair game and will happen from just playing over time anyway. front is just character you can live with or not lol. also depends if you intend to keep it forever.
11. Tighter the grain and the hardness of the wood makes for better resonance and sustain, age makes a different too as the grain will tend to tighten and the wood will get harder over the years.
12. Thanks for the replies, not so good on the having to grip see I'm starting to get raynauds in hands so thought the less extreme angels and method of db would keep me playing for a while longer. Oh yes they know how to charge. I see a few problems with the end pin design 1 you could be taking all the weight of the bass on your thumb 2 hip bracket your moving that pivot point higher. So was looking more towards the frame strap but even then all the pictures I've seen have it positioned fairly high and not low enough to be able to reach all the neck. Edited by and large happy with the bass the Czech build quality is very good tone is a little quiet but passable for an upright the plugs is positioned stupidly so even on a stand ya gotta use a 90 degree jack.
13. First eub ns nxt 4, this maybe be a silly question but here goes anyway. everything I read about upright bass say in stead of gripping the neck with your fingers most of the pressure to press the strings down comes from your shoulder, now unless I stand with one feet on the front of the stand this is impossible to do. So how are you meant to do it?
14. swamp skunk fingerboard new one on me. Kinda hate it but more you look more you like it.
