1. Any other logabass owners on the boards?
2.
This is about as subjective as it gets given the wide variety of basses/amps/etc but for me, the Boogie Diesel 2x15. Like the Bass 400 it instantly removed any desire to play through anything else and has been exactly the same for nigh on quarter of a century. It's so good that I continue to drag it around despite all the lighter etc options available because I still get the very same buzz every time I hear it as I did when I very first played through it.
Same here Steve, had my 2x15 diesel since 1987... The woodwork is shot but only had one recone each since 87 and one time was coz my boy stuck a screwdriver through it! I took a break when I got a Markbass 1x15 and a 2x10 on the top as they are really light.... One day, I decided just to try out the 2x15 Mesa Boogie that had been sitting un-used in my garage for the last year.... well..... Never went back to the Markbass cabs again - sold them in fact. E.V speakers are the dogs... Totally dry and un-coloured, is how I describe them!
3. My Leduc Logabass..Really heavy due to all the metalwork but plays a treat. I love it.
4. [sub]A band that I've been gigging with really solidly now for the past 5 years had a 69 yr old drummer and a 70yr old Guitarist.... We had occasional flippant comments by self proclaimed comedians mentioning "coccoon" etc but they really rocked and I loved gigging with them!! Alas, the band just split but they've both gone on to other projects.... You're never too old to rock!![/sub]
5. I'm based in West Sussex... Guess I'll have to look around for some luthiers. I would like to keep the original neck if possible as it has the non standard inlays etc..
6. Cheers for all the input. The truss rod does work in the conventional right hand thread way... I took it to a local tech a while back and he concluded that it was mismatched or un-seasoned wood and just bad luck - there is a ridge both sides, where the fretboard joins the neck, like the wood has shrunk.... The bass looks identical to the one DiMarco put up - No3 of 171 so I'll never get a matching neck and I would rather have a playable instrument than some useless ornament. There is a standard neck on ebay... Not as pretty but hopefully straight....see how that goes. Cheers, Kev.
7. Hi there, I have a 2003 Warwick thumb "Bleach blonde" that was beautiful to play when I first got it but gradually the action got way high to the point that I couldn't do anything about it with the truss rod. This thing is totally unplayable now. For the money that Warwick's cost you'd expect the neck to be solid. It has been kept side by side with my '96' Corvette F.N.A, which is perfect, so not an atmospheric issue and it's never been dropped. Has anyone else had these issues and are Warwick likely to help? Not sure who I could contact... All input appreciated, thanks. Kev.
8. Hello there, Just a quick intro from a tinnitus ridden old'n... (48 with the ears of a 90yr old) Been playing since 1986, mostly covers stuff of all genres in pubs and clubs across the South of the U.K. Didn't wear ear protection in the early days, so now struggling with the hearing, particularly my "snare drum" side, left ear...... but giving up playing is absolutely out of the question. Current basses are: A well used '76' Fender Jazz Wilkes MM copy Two Signature Jazz bass copies (one fretless) '96' Warwick F.N.A Corvette '03' Warwick Thumb "Bleach Blonde" ltd Squire Precision 5 string (jazz pups) OLP 5 string Leduc Logabass by Sanox 5 string Ibanez EWB20WNE 5 string Amps n stuff: Early 90's Hartke HA3500 mosfet Ernie Ball HD500 head Trace Elliot AH500 90's tank Mesa Boogie 2x15 cab Just realised how many basses I have hidden from my wife!....Oooops! Cheers for now, Kev.
