Never seen one of these before. Don't need a amp but very intrigued to how how it sounds? Looks cool btw

Thanks it is a beast. It’s a very flexible amp, with the pre and post input gain you can go from clean to growly tone and the eq being 8 band gives tons of flexibility. It almost has a valves sound to it if you drive the pre.

  2. Incredibly rare in the U.K. Peavey Max 800 watt amp.

Flightcase with front and back lids, bi amp or full range 800 watt min 4 ohm load. Pre and post fx loops, cross over, 8 band hi/low eq, DI, line outs.

Unbelievably loud amp. Unbelievably solid. This is no light weight in either power or physical weight.

This is 110v but comes with a hi power 240/100 converter. imageproxy.php?img=&key=4b3806f48250f55a

  3. Gary Moore, sat listening to his songs tears running down my face. Although not my favourite musician by a long chalk I don’t know anybody that can put as much emotion into notes as he could.

I wasn’t too bothered about Freddie Mercury dying at the time as I was young and probably didn’t appreciate death the way you do as you get older but every time I watch him perform I can find myself getting really choked up. He is without doubt the best frontman that has ever taken to the stage.

Great to have my Sterling back after its visit to Mr Shuker. I wasn’t keen on the bland neck (maple board wax/oil jobbie) so after a conversation with DeeDee the bass was taken into the heart of the Peak District. Very happy with the work, a nice vintage tint gloss and stainless frets - looks awesome.

I’ve had all my Ernie Ball necks and maple boards lacquered.  I hate the dry feel of an unfinished or oiled neck. I wish they’d offer it as a factory option.

  5. I’ve only got one of these left now (Stingray) but it dawned on me, of all the fretless basses I’ve owned, they’ve all been unlined.

Something very ‘proper musician’ about an unllined fretless. Until I play it on a dark stage 😁

  6. I’ve just bought back my June 1976 4001.

I bought it in 1989 for £325 from DGC in Durham. I stupidly sold it in the summer of 2017 and regretted it ever since. Thankfully the guy I sold it to offered me first refusal when he was considering shifting it again. Needless to say I didn’t think twice. It’s now back where it belongs with my 1985 4003s

My FET Bassman is not what the name suggests. It consists of a FET-transistor input stage, followed by a modified API 553 inductor EQ. The three switchable frequencies for each band are adapted to my taste and work very well with my Wal fretless. It doesn´t sound like a Fender Bassman at all. My Peavey is closer to a Bassman than the FET pre. Here´s some internal p*rn:

You don’t happen to have a circuit diagram for this do you?

Two questions. (1) Is that Acoustic wall all yours? and (2) Do you have all that in the house AND a wife?

Yes it was all mine at one point. I don’t own it all now, just 2 408 cabs and 2 370 amps.

Its my rehearsal room and no wife.

...or an SWR Mini Mo, or a tce 1144 Bass preamp (that is a renamed 1140) or a tce 1210 Spatial expander, or a Drawmer compressor, or...

The 1140 and 1144 are actually slightly different. The 1140 is the studio version and the 1144 is the instrument version and having owned both ya the same time and A/B them, they do sound surprisingly different. I sold the 1144 and just kept the 1140

That is one sweet setup. Love acoustic rigs. 🤘

Me too, I had a bit of a sickness for a while but I’ve finally calmed down and have 2 370s and 2 408s. Ali McMordie was a hero when I first started playing. Hence the Guid too.

  11. I’ve spent the last few years ridding myself of a large collection and distilling my basses down to basses I will gig and not be precious about and the best version of the instrument I can find. If there’s anything that niggles me about a bass it’s now gone.

With that said here’s the 2 best Fenders I’ve personally played. 1978 Walnut and Rosewood and a 1973 Black and Maple.

  12. Boss 1/2 rack compressor limiter in very good condition and full working order. It doesn’t have a power supply as I power it off my other Boss 1/2 rack but you can pick up a generic non boss brand one for around £5 on eBay.

     http://www.synthmanuals.com/manuals/boss/rcl-10/owners_manual/boss_rcl-10_owners_manual_rvgm.pdf

its a fantastic sounding compressor with very quiet operation and low thd. I’m only selling as I’ve got another spare 1/2 rack compressor so don’t need this. M

Trades I wouldn’t mind a Boss 1/2 rack chorus but otherwise I’m pretty geared up.

     Thanks
