1. NOW SOLD
I bought this to use as a preamp for my Bergantino IP rig. It is one of the best preamps/channel strips on the market with a price to match - getting on for £3000. It is a studio-quality bit of kit with twin topology - you can route the signal solid-state for transparency or valve for colour on each part of the signal chain - Input, EQ and Compression. It also has a built-in transformer to colour the sound there too - if you want.

It's use isn't limited to bass guitar. It makes a great studio recording preamp/channel strip for any instrument or vocals.

It's condition is excellent to mint and everything works as it should. Will ship in original packaging.

May consider close offers - the ONLY trades I might be interested in are a Status Streamline (black), PJB Briefcase or (unlikely) a Bergantino B Amp!

It's a TOP bit of kit, check Google for the reviews.

2. Priced to sell is my Fender USA 1958 Precision bass in lovely three-tone sunburst with nitro finish. Previous owner certainly used the bass as you can see but they say it all adds character and it's ready to be played. Bass comes with paperwork and case candy although the vintage tweed case itself has a dodgy latch. These basses are £1700-ish now.

Bass is also advertised elsewhere. Not looking for trades at the moment thanks. Can ship at cost.

Thats the problem, Microtubes circuits have a reputation of just being for aggressive sounds and styles. Reality is, even the B*K circuit can sound warm and gritty if you use it right. The Vintage circuit though, it was primarily designed to get tones like you describe, but again people tend to demo its more aggressive nature.

That's what I was thinking/hoping! Thanks.

4. Can you get these things smooth, velvety and furry like a B15 at optimum volume or are they always 'metalised' when you engage the microtubes? Darkglass seem to attract aggressive players who want a sound with attitude on most videos I see.

5. SORRY - WITHDRAWN FOR NOW.

Time for a change again so my Aguilar rig is up for sale. This was my preferred class D setup after trying numerous brands.

Aguilar TH500 head - very clean condition, works perfectly. Ships in original box. £440
Aguilar SL112 Super Light 1x12 Cabinet with Aguilar padded cover. Very clean condition, works perfectly. Ships in original box. £500.
Will sell together for £900. Shipping add £15 if required.

Payment via bank transfer or cash on collection from Doncaster.

No trades please... I'm going to be trying a Berg B Amp so need the cash.

I had a Stealth 4 string & sold it quite quickly, there was a harshness in the mid-range that I just couldn't e.q. out. It came to dominate everything to my ears. I subsequently bought a Streamline & that thing killed from day one, in fact I would say it is the best Status model I've played. Stupidly sold it to Outtoplayjazz of this parish & have regretted it ever since.

I'd echo this. it's a long time ago since I had a Stealth but it was just too brittle/harsh. I was expecting the same when I played a Streamline but it was a a lot warmer. It sounds better than an S2 to me.

Bear in mind Rob might have tweaked the Stealth preamp since then.

7. Up for sale is my Genz Benz Streamliner 900 head. I acquired this as part of another deal but I'm not looking for another amp just now. It is in good condition and works perfectly. It also has brand new blue LEDs fitted, thanks to Andy at Mesa for pointing me in the right direction.

Off topic, but jees, this Ashdown combo unfortunately keeps with the generalisation of 'wooliness'. Loud, bassey, but not enough clarity at all. Barely any sparkle, Massive mid dip when flat I think.

You may know this... if it's an ABM model the default setting is mid-scooped. In order to get all the mids back you need to press the shape button near the gain knob. It's kinda weird and opposite to most other manufacturers in that 'in' is flat and 'out' applies the mid-scoop!

I wish more amps didn't have fans. Fan noise annoys me so much.

Tecamp, Demeter and PJB manage it.

Fan noise annoys me too. I've let a few amps go for that reason. I don't even notice it on the Subway. VERY quiet.
