1. Slab66 in three tone sunburst. hand wound pups, brass nut and saddles, 7.25" radius vintage C rosewood neck. paddle tuners, brown tortie pickguard and rosewood tug bar. I based this slab, 'loosely' on Wally Waller's bass. Furthermore, I wanted to see what a slab looked like in three tone sunburst as opposed to the original, 'white blonde'. The next slabs will be in some interesting colours such as Vintage Coke Red, Checker Cab yellow and Robbin Egg Blue. What larks!!!!!
 2. Yep! That's it! However, the Marshall tube head helps. Saying that I get the same hollow, howl through my Ashdown. They love HIWATT too! /www.youtube.com/watch?v=rwflWR4YxV0
 3.
I doubt it, he got exactly what he wanted. If he wanted a telecaster bass, then he would have asked for a reissue of the original single coil P-Bass from '51-'54, that would have been far easier to have described and requested. In fact, in '66, he probably could have bought one of those for less than the price of a new custom order Precision.
Have you talked to Barrie Midford-Millership?? I have! I suggest you read his book!!! This is the only publication worth reading on this matter.
 4. Nice find! Love the OTY aged finish. Looks like a second batch edition with black pickguard. I don't know what it is about these basses, but they put a smile on my face every time I see one. I guess that what makes them so, iconic. Leo did an awesome job designing these. I firmly believe they are so much more than simply an un-contoured P Bass. I've got my hands on two of the originals and they both had nearly 50 years of DNA on them; It just added to the charm. Got another one coming in in August for a refinish. He wants it back to 'white blonde'. If i'm granted permission, I'll post the pics. Love it, and above all, play it!!!!
 5. I still claim its' a, 'Precision on steroids', as JAE claimed. Ask Craig Addecott, he owns an original and is playing the one I did for him!
 6.
Personally, I don't think there ever was any particularly different sound to these. Just pointing out that the ONLY difference to a standard instrument was that cap neck, apart from the uncontoured nody, and we know that made no difference. 7. I guess we could settle on Telecaster/Precision hybrid! That's what I call mine. Best of both worlds.
 8. Going to do a complete rebuild on a original 66 slab shortly. I'll post some pics when I get it.
 9.
And secondly? It does seem to say 'Precision Bass' on the headstock...
There is no secondly!
 10.
I am confused by the words 'Precision Bass' in your avatar of a Slab66 headstock.
Had not read Barrie's book back then.
 11. No. They just badged them with the Precision decal and sent them out. There was no way Fender would go to the expense of new decals for such a low run. Its a 1966 'Telecaster' Bass. Do yourself a favour and read Barrie Midford-Millershp's book!
 12.
I find myself mysteriously drawn to any talk of the fabled Slab Precision...
Okay! firstly its not a P Bass! Its a 1966 'Telecaster Bass'! It just happens to look like a P Bass. I have played an original 66 that was owned by John Entwistle. It was quite heavy with ash body not swamp ash. I've had the pleasure of chatting with Barrie Midford-Millership who was the creator of the slab. It was his 'baby'! You need to read is book. Its all in there.
 13.
This video has been removed by the user. That went well ...
I thought so! Hiwatt or nothing!
