1.
Entwistle on My Generation is playing a Jazz bass with flatwounds.
2.
be careful if you are tempted to go for the black nylon wound flatwounds as they are usually a very heavy guage (but also low tension and very pliable) because of the significant increase in diameter you might need to cut the fret slots wider to accomodate the guage whereas if you go for steel or ncikel or such then you would probs stick with something liek a 40-100 or 45-105 set iirc from memory rotosound trubass come in at about 65-135 ish
3. One other thing that suggests I might like them is the fact that I'm one of those people that doesn't like a new set of strings , I prefer them when they've lost a bit of that brightness. Does that make sense?
4. Hmmm, like most things it seems like it comes down to personal taste, I shall have to try some for myself! Thanks for your replies guys, I'll let you know how I get on.
5. My very first bass (a dirt cheap satellite jazz copy) came with flat wound strings which I replaced with rounds as they sounded so dead. I haven't tried any since. My question is: have flatwound strings evolved at all? I like the idea of less fret noise etc and presumably they are kinder to your fingertips but do they still sound wooly and dead? Rather than fork out for a set and find I hate them I thought id ask you esteemed people your opinion
6. I would definitely recommend a 5 string, I suffer with arthritic wrists and play most songs further up the neck. You do get a difference in tone but this is not always a bad thing. You can usually brighten up the sound with a good amp.
7. GK Backline 410 and 115 cabs for sale .Fairly good condition, usual scuffs and fluffiness on the felt. 410 is 8 ohm 400 watt and the 115 8 ohm 200 watt so they make an impressive looking and sounding 4ohm stack. I'll see if I can work out how to put pics on here but until then I can email some if you're interested. Based in Herne Bay Kent, pickup only I'm afraid. I'm gigging them on the 6th of July but if someone offers the full price ill manage without them! Genuine bargain, only selling as I've gone the neo route.Open to sensible offers
8. Couldn't even get that far. It wouldn't recognise there was a figure there for some reason!
9. Trying to post this in the market place and it keeps saying please enter a price, I have! I have ! £ 180 ffs!!!
10. Hi Alistair, I would definitely buy your cab but can't pick it up till next Saturday, would that be any good?
11. Hi, what's you're best price for your cab? Just noticed a thread that said Thomann were knocking these out for £202 brand new

14. Long shot, but I'd trade for some Bartolini 5 string jazz pickups preferably 57s
