I've been looking at harley benton basses but annoyingly they don't list the string spacing or weight...

Fender Precision 5s are quite wide, pretty sure it’s 19mm
I've never got on with the P-bass pickup, too used to the Ibanez soapbar

Do you need the highest string of a fiver strung in drop C? I'm currently doing the same and I haven't found I've ventured that high with what we're playing. If I didn't love my Dingwall so much, I'd be cracking out one of my fours with strings to match.
I'd like to leave it in standard but have the added B-string. We have a lot of tunes in standard tuning, some in drop-D and now some in drop-C. I don't really want to bring 2 basses to gigs so would rather just get a 5-string
I'd like to keep the budget under £1000 (would ideally be looking used) and also the weight is another important factor. Would need it to be under 4kg

Hi all,
I currently play an Ibanez ATK810 and love it. It has 19mm string spacing. Before that I played an Ibanez SR500 and loved it, that also had 19mm string spacing.
My band has started playing a lot of stuff in drop D, drop C, drop C# etc, so figured it was time to get a 5-string. I bought an Ibanez SR1205 but cannot get on with the 16.5mm string spacing. It's too tight.
It seems most of the Ibanez 5-string basses are 16.5mm with the exception of the ATK series which are very hard to find (I would love an ATK815). Does anyone have any other suggestions?
Thanks!

I just picked up the Mosfet version from the Gear4Music sale, pretty impressed so far. Comparing it against a GK Legacy 800 and TC RH750.
One question - does anyone else experience slight distortion when using the onboard compressor? I can hear some slight distortion right at the start of a note...

I couldn't see it on either of those sites unfortunately, ended up ordering from the US for £85. So not bad... until they decide to charge me import tax

That's a bit worrying especially as I have both the 350 and 800 watt versions of the amp and never had this even with the 350, it's never come close to it sounding like it was struggling even with loud drummers. But I have a few questions to clarify what was happening.
Was the clip light flickering on the input gain for the clean channel? It's a red LED that lights up if you overload the input, and if you're overloading it constantly it will produce a nasty distortion. If it is, just dial back the clean volume control until it stops flickering or lights up very occasionally.
Had you got the drive channel engaged? Not that the drive channel gets unpleasant even at full gain!
What speakers were you using? Your own or something in a rehearsal room that could possibly have had years of prior abuse?
And the 800 is an obscenely loud amp, what situation are you in where you need to push the power amp that hard???
Just trying to figure out if the amp is potentially faulty or if it's something else 😉
Was running through the clean channel, clip light was only occasionally flickering when really thumping the E string. Was using a Barefaced BB2

Well I just got back from rehearsal where I really pushed both amps, and I did notice a difference. The Genzler was louder, but the power amp started to noticably distort when pushed hard. The TC on the other hand remained relatively clean throughout, but was quieter (I assume this was the Active Power Management at work)

Thanks for all the great replies

Hi all,
I've got two amps (one main and one backup) but I can only keep one due to money reasons. So one of them needs to go. Trouble is, I genuinely can't decide which one to get rid of! They are, in my opinion, both excellent.
So... thought I'd get some other opinions as to which one I should keep and which one should get the ebay treatment Which should I keep, the TC RH750 or Genzler Magellan 800?

Just want to put a comment in here because I am intrigued to hear more about these amps. They are certainly on my Class D amp wishlist along with the Mesa TT/WD800 heads and a few others.
How comes it says Class A on the back?

Been reading a lot of reviews for the M80 case, seems pretty marmite in terms of comfort. I'm 5ft9 and worry I'll suffer the same "slapping the back of the legs" problem as a lot of others seem to complain about

I think the Fusion Urban is the best for protection, mostly because the internal 'noodle' can be stuck into position in such a way that it completely fits the contour of your bass, just like your hard case. Oh I'm selling one, fancy that! Seriously though it's so satisfying putting a bass into the case when it fits perfectly!
Here's an example to show what I mean:
That means you can stuff a few pedals in there between the edge of the bag and the noodle...
Here's the one I'm selling if you're interested

That looks pretty cool! I like that you can adjust the inside to fit and that it looks like the bass is suspended? Do you know if the ATK810 would fit? It's pretty long, I believe 35" scale. Cheers

Thanks for all the great replies!
The case is for an Ibanez ATK810. The case that came with it was specifically made for this bass, and naturally it fits like a glove.
The problem with the other case I purchased (aside from the uncomfortable shoulder straps) was that there was so much movement in the case. The bass would shake about and the headstock tuner keys hit the bottom. I tried padding it out by using felt pieces cut to size, but it felt like a half-measure.
Looking at some of the pictures of the gig bags, could I possibly face similar issues?
Is there another key indicator of protection other than padding thickness?
For example, the case above is £126 and has 25mm of padding (https://www.thomann.de/gb/gator_g_pg_bass_guitar_bag.htm)
But this case is £30 and has 20mm of padding... (https://www.gear4music.com/Guitar-and-Bass/RedSub-Bass-Guitar-Gig-Bag/2RUJ)
Are there many other factors?

I’m sure others will be along soon to give their suggestions, but my favourite, which has served me well for years is the Mono Classic gig bag for bass guitar. Not cheap, but ticks the boxes.
Were you referring to the M80?
