1. Some people aren't getting the point.
In reference to some of the argument s for lending your gear out. My motorbike is insured and it can also stand a fair bit of 'abuse'. If I take it to a track day, those points make no difference whatsoever to whether or not I would or even should just lend my bike willy nilly to anyone who fancies turning up without their own expecting to use mine for their session. Size 9 Sidi will be rammed right up their jacksie!
You should never be expected to lend gear. End of. It's only become this way due to poor organisation by 'promoters' leaving bands in an awkward position on the night.
I play for fun and I'm very picky about what gigs I'll play these days. I flat refuse to play a gig organised by some 'promoter' who has no affiliation with me or the bands playing and just wants to make a quick buck for as little effort as possible. I also won't play a gig if I don't think I'll get a good sound on the night. Gigging should not be stressful.
Too many bands are so desperate to play a gig, any gig, that they forget why they're doing it in the first place or lose sight of what they're trying to achieve by playing live.
A gig is a gig, some might say. Wrong. It doesn't matter what level you're at, you should always try and give your best performance and that starts with picking the right venues and having the right gear.

2. (Pro players aside) Gigging is ultimately a pleasure pursuit for most of us out there. So here's a question.

I want to go kayaking, I can't afford a kayak, if I could afford one I don't have a car to get it to my nearest kayaking hot-spot. Would it be acceptable for me to turn up at said kayaking hot-spot and simply expect to use the kayak of whichever complete stranger I came across first who happens to have their own kayak and transport? :)

3. I decided to deal with my receding hair line last December by removing it completely. I was previously unwilling to wear nice hats since I felt it would look as though I was hiding something. I now have a rather large collection of them and look cool as f@ck. I think you have to have a proper mane under there or nothing at all to pull off a good hat.:)

4.
Hahaha

oh dear, I might have it back off you!
let me have a think!
Ha, thought you might spot this.

Me and the others in the band have reached a mutual decision that they should find a new bassist. Since the conditions of my job have changed recently it's going to become increasingly difficult for me to make rehearsals with them half way across the country. So, while the cab is temporarily redundant I was going to shift it to crack on with building my track bike.

5. Sorry people, but is this guy a wind up?

Five pages of a thread about buying a cheap bass? I'm all for giving 'noobs' a little guidance but he's taking the piss here. Everything has to be spoon fed. What's this? What's that? The information is out there, stop being so lazy. I think people have been more than helpful enough. What do you want next? For them to actually buy the bass and play it for you?

I understand that knowing the market, what options you have, your future plans and expectations etc. are important when making a purchase but it's not a house you're buying is it?

You want a bass and amp for home use but you're not sure you're going to stick at it.
You need something that you won't grow out of too soon if you stick at it but will be easy to sell on without a loss if you don't.
You want to be Flea on a budget of around £250.
You need to get over being a weirdo and buy used gear.

Here, I've done the hard work for you:

6. *SOLD* but I'll leave all the details for anyone researching the market.

This is practically brand new, no scuffs or tears in the covering. Seen only a few hours of bedroom use since I bought it last month off BC member throwoff and only saw the same use in the time he had it!
The cheapest I've found this cab online is £1,189, this is a steal at this price! It's just a bit excessive now as band needs have changed recently. Welcome to come round and try it out.

7.
Means you have a clean signal to carry your low end mixed in. You just have to balance the 3 volume controls.
What I want to do is have two wahs and two drives, one of each running parallel in each loop, and blend them. But the volume problem arises when I want just one distortion on. I can get what I want if I just use the blended loop for the purpose of drive/wah but I want to be able to use other effects in the loops individually without having to go mad knob twiddling.

8.
Marshall Jackhammer or the EHX Metal Muff - both surprisingly versatile with powerful EQ.

Even better if you use a Boss Line Selector to mix some clean in with it.
+1 on the Jackhammer. Click on my myspace link below and listen to 'My Ship Is Ship Shaped' @ 2:34 I stomp on the Jackhammer. :) Sounds like Thor gargling hammers.

What's the deal with mixing drive pedals in the LS-2 loops? I've tried it with mine and in the A+B mix mode the levels are all over the place. Mega loud with the drive on and dead quiet with it off.

9.
but sticking velcro to the rubber base never works, the velcro just comes off the pedal and stays stuck to the board.
Clean the rubber bases with methylated spirits or denatured alcohol and the sticky back velcro stays on there much better. I find the 2cm wide strips of stick on velcro from Wilkinson to be really good. Don't absolutely cover the bottom of the pedal with velcro either else it grips too well and will obviously tear off, you only need a couple of small bits to hold the pedal in place. :)

10. I haven't played live in about 2 years but this should be a good 'un!
Would be nice if some fellow local BCers could come down to support us on our first outing. :)
Plus. it's FREE!
