Looking at the video though, this seems different, in that he's modified the existing metal bridge rather than fitting one of the above?

This seems to be different though? Using brass inserts on a metal bridge rather the specifically purchased signature bridge?

Yeah I like the looks of those bridges, but the video suggested that the guy had done the mod himself with £10 worth of parts to the existing bass bridge, rather than buying one of these bridges

I'm currently on a massive Dominique Di Piazza hype and I came across this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IsPKHXTi5UI After some quality translating via google he says that he's put brass inserts at the bridge (which are kind of visible) but I wondered if anyone had any idea on how to give this a go - what sorts of inserts (what sort of size required), whether they need to be fixed/wedged etc.

I'm on a bit of a Matthew Garrison hype and read that that he uses a 20 year old (probably closer to thirty years now) Rat pedal. Would a Rat 2 get me the same sort of distortion tone as heard on Essaquira at 6:45, I Told Ya So (1:13) or the beginning of I Can See You Now? 3

After searching both threads and shops I've narrowed my two choices to Dunlop Super Bright Nickels and Rotosound Swing Bass 66 Nickels in 40-120 gauges. I'm currently on a bit of a Matthew Garrison hype while also being on a sub £30 budget and was wondering which string would be best to help me get that more growly tone without dying too quickly since I've managed to find pros for both e.g. read that the rotos are quite aggressive sounding but also warm while a bunch of the modern jazz guys use the super brights

I found that the ramp got me developing a floating thumb technique as well as playing with a lighter touch

resurrecting the thread sorta, would this technique be any good for fast playing?
