Hi Dave,
I'm new here too :-)
My reasons for playing bass are similar to yours.
How are you learning to play?
I started by buying all the beginners books I could afford, a dvd and started taking lessons in December. I generally use the rockschool bass books now. Not sure if I will take the 'exams' though.
Bye for now,

If you're local, you may be able to have my acoustic if my old school doesn't want it.

Hi Paul,
Thank you for the offer but I live in Wolverhampton, a bit too far to travel.

Hi,
I have recently took up bass :-) I began taking lessons in December 07.
I started with a cheap bass from eBay and a knocked about guitar amp.
I now have a Stagg 40 BA amp and an Ibanez SR500 bass. I didn't realise how naff my first bass was until I tried the Ibanez!
Can anyone recommend a good acoustic bass for under £100?
Bye for now,
