If you went the Synth route I would second the Novation Bass Station. I love mine, although I'm fairly new to synthesisers so take that with a pinch of salt, to my ears it sounds excellent, and it's easy to use.
-
I wasn't far off I guess, but I wanted the squier anyway, I prefer the pickup selectors and the neck, I know they're little things but for the price difference as well...
I played the fender today, just to get a feel of it upside down, so I have that comparison too. The fender is good, but for like £400 difference... -
I coulda got the black earlier too, but I really like the white one
-
Tried one out today, felt a bit weird but I think I'll get used to it. Took the plunge and ordered one, end of feb it's looking like
-
I doubt I'll use the trem much, the novelty will wear off I have no doubt. I can always get a locking one later if it becomes a problem
-
Yeah I'm sure there are however, I am an 18 year old student who works 11 hours a week haha. Also I prefer the squiers pickups and pickup selector and also the neck even though that's superficial...
However if I got enough money for Christmas for the fender things may become mor difficult...
If they made the squier version as a fender one I'd definitely save for it. -
The red fender one is beautiful, I have a bit of a thing for matching headstocks... But I feel the squier is better value for money. If i can find a fender somewhere though I can see how it feels upside down.
And I really like the tort guard... -
Ah well I want white :/ also I need to try one first really to see what it's like upside downnnn
-
He didn't when I saw them but I believe he used to before they had proper backing musicians
Where abouts did you order it from? That's a tempting idea. -
It'll have to be after Christmas haha, I'm getting money for it for Christmas. Also I wanna try one upside down first.
-
Saw placebo last night, fantastic band, they played a bass vi...that's cemented it. Getting one after christmas

Riiiiight. So basically they're just saying "F*** you, go get a right-handed one and flip it" and even assuming you're going to do that anyway, as they're asking for your serial number already

Haha seems to be that way! -
Thanks for writing in!
Marketing and R&D are very tight lipped about any future releases. That being said, it's a possibility that there will be a lefty version of the Bass VI, but I don't have anything outright saying we'll see one soon. Either way, I'll let the appropriate parties know that there's definitely a demand for such an item!
Other than that, I've never heard of a conversion to a lefty on that model. I would imagine it would be a matter of getting a new nut filed as well as swapping the bridge for a left-handed. There may be an experienced Authorized Fender Technician in your area that can accommodate such a swap. If you throw me your serial number I'll find the highest rated tech around you!
My reply from fender -
Oooh I see, I imagine so. Sorry, I misunderstood
-
It's not a locking trem, unfortunately. The fender one is but the squier isn't. I wouldn't really use it much though probably.
-
Ill most likely play with a pick so kinda in the middle/towards the neck
-
I don't really understand why either, all I know is a right handed guitar feels stupidly uncomfortable and just wrong, like I imagine a left handed guitar would feel for most right handed guitarists, but a left handed one feels a lot more comfortable.
-
The trem bar could just hang down behind the bridge could it not?
-
Okay I have thought about it and I really want the squier one, I know it's shallow but it's the nicest looking, the cheapest, and closest to an actual bass vi, if I got one would I have to flip the nut to string it leftie?
-
I was only saying it in reply to the one above about why they make leftie guitars, I didn't mean to open a can of worms, and yeah I think I support that theory.
-
I tried to learn guitar righty when I started an found it so uncomfortable and hard to learn, but then I switched to left and picked it up a lot quicker
-
They do the VM basses leftie so I thought they'd do the VM bass vi leftie too
-
It's just so much nicer than the schecter, if they did a left handed one I'd probably buy it this minute.
-
I spose I might have to, not quite as nice though :/
