  1. LG after my mobile phone died on the way to a gig in Aberystwyth. I was using Google maps on my phone to find the gig (festival, so just a field). Had to stop and buy a map, but had no way of contacting anyone. Luckily I managed to find the field, but will never buy an LG product again!

  2. +1 for Legally Blonde. The score is really good.

Sister Act also has some good bass parts, don't know if it would be considered grade 8 standard though. The Last 5 Years is also fantastic, especially if you're after fretless stuff.

I've not played these, but the cast recording of The Bodyguard musical has some great playing on it. Songs for a New World is also brilliant.

  3. I've tried it on a couple of places on my board, with different daisy chain cables. Thought at one point that had fixed it but the issue resurfaced at the last couple of gigs. Power supply does seem most likely, but it's really weird that I can't replicate other than when I'm gigging. Makes it difficult to investigate!

  4. You can't power this pedal with a 9v battery, only a power supply. I do have some other 9v adaptors knocking around though, might take one to the next gig (I can't replicate the problem at home) and experiment.

  5. I'm having a weird problem with a Matryoshka pedal that I'm looking for some advice on. When I connect to my amp through an active DI box, which is powered by phantom power from the desk, my Matryoshka just produces white noise when engaged. This doesn't happen when I DI from my amp, so it's something to do with the DI box. I'm thinking maybe it's a ground loop issue, but the ground lift on the DI is on. The Matyoshka pedal is powered using a Diago powerstation, with a bunch of other pedals on the board.

Anyone got any ideas what's going on?

  6. Tried a different kettle lead, and tried plugging into a different outlet on the same side of the stage. After that we just ditched my rig altogether!

Been looking at the Palmer pli 01 or something similar, but I'm not sure this would have helped since there was no buzz coming from my cab, just the pa and monitors.

  7. It was one of these:

They also tried a passive Di box (not sure of make/model) which had the same problem, as did the DI from my amp.

It was sat on top of the amp, although we did try moving it away which didn't improve things either.

Should probably also mention that I run a pedalboard powered by a diago power supply.

  8. At my gig tonight I encountered a very strange issue. The sound guys took a DI into the desk, but there was a noticeable buzz which went away if I switched my amp off. This happened even when there was nothing plugged into the amp, so I was straight into the DI box but without the link cable to my amp. I ended up doing the gig just using a wedge for monitoring.

What could this be? It's like the amp is interfering with the DI box somehow. Maybe an earthing problem somewhere?

The venue was Birmingham O2 academy 2 in case anyone has experienced something similar there. I had no problems last night with exactly the same setup.
