Please read my post it clearly states "closed wallet"

2.
I traded my Bongo for this not so long ago and whilst it's a VERY nice bass, the extra string is just not for me. I've come to the conclusion that I'm a 4 string guy through and through :)

Anyway I've therefore decided to move this on to someone who will do this the justice it deserves.

I hope Ryan doesn't mind but here is the link to the original advert

http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=...ingray+fretless

The (edited) description below is also taken from there (I know I'm a lazy git!)

Purchased in 1992 by the original owner this is a great example of a fretless five string Musicman Stingray. The original Pau Ferro fingerboard was changed in 1993 by John Diggins of JD to the current beautiful piece of Ebony with maple stained fret markers and high polish polyester finish. The fingerboard has been re-polished since it was originally fitted and the whole bass is in very good condition with no missing paint finish and no rust on the fittings. The back of the highly figured bird's eye maple neck has been finished in a high polish finish to match the fingerboard. The unique bass has a wonderful feel and tone due to the Ebony fingerboard. This bass comes with the original fitted hard case.

Since I bought it it has not been out of the house and is in fantastic condition. It really does play lovely with that gorgeous ebony fingerboard.

Price-wise I'm looking for £750. I'm interested particularly in a 4 string fretless Stingray or a Lakland Bob Glaub but feel free to drop me a line if you have something to offer.

On to the pictures (again, thanks to Ryan!). Please note the d-tuner is not fitted now.

I have a 4 string fretted Sandberg up on Basschat if you are interested in a closed wallet trade.
If not
Bump (airline travel slang for the removal of passengers from an overbooked flight)

And surely when you say D tuner you really mean an A tuner.(just kidding)

3.
too bad you don't like warwick. otherwise i got one that fits all your need, except it got a W on the head stock lol
A W is a bonus, my surname begins with it.

4. I have a US Fender 5 string Jazz and a Sanberg California JM4 for Sale or Trade.

Looking for a Musicman Stingray, a Natural finish and a Maple neck. 4 string.
Have owned both basses from new.

Fender is near mint (small belt buckle marks) and the Sandberg has knock on rear but only cosmetic. To buy both basses new there would not be much change from £3,000.00+. Of course if a vast amount of difference between price of two for one it would be nice to make up a bit of any shortfall in cash but I know money is tight so would not expect a lot of cash my way. As for me my wallet is closed.

Really in love with my Musicman at the moment so bonus points for anyone who offers me one.

Basses are listed seperately on Basschat

Fender = http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=129514 = £1000.00 OVNO for cash

Sandberg = http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=128954 = £750.00 OVNO for cash

5. Will keep bass for the time being. Thanks for looking.

Up for grabs a US Fender Deluxe V Jazz 2009 Model. Near Mint condition. £1000.00

Owned bass from new about 18 months ago. Hardly gigged

Couple of very light belt buckle marks on rear of body.

Have made a few adjustments, but totally changeable to original in about 5 minutes.

Added stick on block markers and neck side LED's. This is the black wire on neck. (On/Off switch has fallen off needs double sided tape to stick back on, but works fine) As I say no permanent alterations made to bass. The image with the white background is a stock photo of how bass will look once block markers removed.

Select alder body
Graphite-reinforced maple neck with modern C shape and a satin polyurethane finish
Rosewood fingerboard
9-1/2" radius
22 medium-jumbo frets
Chrome-plated hardware
Deluxe bridge that allows either string-thru or top loading
Chrome plated brass bridge saddles
Lite-Bass tuners with vintage cloverleaf keys
2 dual-coil Samarium Cobalt Noiseless Jazz pickups
Master volume and pan pot for pickup switching
3-band active EQ
18 volt Pre-Amp.

Open to offers. Any questions please feel free to ask.

6.
Lovely Sandberg.. still playing on the high seas..??? Bump
No mate, not since last year. Although you get to play every night, still not sure if I miss it or not. More often need to play crap, which is not good. When I say crap I mean badly written charts, or you get to
back an act that mimes all the high notes (Jane McDonald), but totally different from playing on land. One minute Jazz, next Rock, next classical etc. Good for learning to be an alround player but not got to the stage
as though I have sold my soul to the devil. Although about three years ago was expected to mime a whole show, refused, as had played the same show for over twelve months, put my bass down and sat in the theatre through the run through, (rehearsel) came close to being fired but managed to keep my job as I knew the show arse about face. When I say show I mean a big West End type show with 6 singers, 12 dancers etc. I would recomend to any bass player (reader) but not for everyone.

7.
CR5M still for sale? Very interested if so, I have a Warwick Corvette Standard Fretless 4 with a Drop-D tuner fitted to maybe trade, PM if interested...

ficelles
CR5M still for sale. Not a lover of Warwick's, not suitable for the kind of music I play.

Thanks for the interest. It is a great bass.

Ron

8. Sandberg California JM 4 String Natural Finish, owned from new.

For sale is a 4 string Sandberg bass with a Jazz and Music man pick up configuration. Bass has a glossed natural wood finish.

Specifications are:

NECK 6 x bolted with block inlays/ canadian hardrock maple?
FRETBOARD 22 frets
SCALE 864 mm / 34",
HARDWARE sandberg
PICKUP 1 Delano J-style / 1 Delano M-style humbucker / PU-split
PREAMP sandberg 2-band, active / passive, passive tone control

Bass purchased new about 18months ago. Only used/Gigged on 2 cruises lasting 4 weeks in total, not gigged since.

Great sounding bass, and very versatile due to the push/pull active/ passive controls as well as the built in E.Q.

Bass fell off stand causing a splinter in the body of the bass but only very light, stupidly I made damage worse when the splinter ruined the sleeve of my DJ (new DJ which cost me £200.00), pulled off the splinter back as far as It would go, fixed
the sleeve catching problem but made made bass damage worse, a local luthier has told me he would charge £40.00 to sand down and varnish, not visible from front and only cosmetic without effecting the playability so not bothered.

Looking for around £750.00 OVNO. Price drop now looking for £650.00. Price drop saving can be used to cover the cost of repair, but as I say this is only cosmetic

Buyer pays for shipment if not collected.

Comes with Sandberg gig bag.

Removed the black pick guard which will ship with the bass (can't find screws at the moment) (screws now found)

Took bass to my local Post Office bass weighs 4292 g = 9.46224 lb

Only trade I might be interested is a Musicman Stingray.

Laptop problems so if you could email me [email protected]

You can always text me 07518378808 or call for any questions.

9.
hi guys, i have over 50000 tabs in gp3 format if anyone wants them. i downloaded them to learn a bit more but it requires a program i dont have. so if anyone wants them just let me know and ill send them your way
No thanks.

10.
heres a bump on that thanks. but this was Carole Kay surely? :)
As far as I know it was only Jamerson and Bob Babbit who took the bass duties on the album. But hey! what do I know?

Must be time for another Jamerson/Kay debate.

11.
Looks good so far :)

I'm going to give it a try tomorrow and play along with the track, but kudos to you so far!
Thanks for the thanks. Not many bother, always nice for feed back even if sometimes negative.

12.
Quite a lot of mistakes in that transcription though, chords are wrong too.
Also, when transcribing for a de-tuned instrument, the notes/key should be written as played, not as sounded. i.e. the score should have been written in C so you could still read it on a transposed instrument. (If you de-tuned your bass and read the notes, your first note would be a Bb)

This version is much better (but incomplete and very raw/unpolished):

Also they got the slap riff at the end wrong, here's a correct version:

Cheers for the info Joe. Great version and yes does appear to be much better, makes more logic to play this way, and I can see what you mean by unpolished (why all those naturals when the notes havn't changed?) I will clean things up and lose the TAB and repost. Was not sure about the correct way of writing for a detuned instrument, but of course why make it difficult and write it in concert.
I watched an interview with Nathan Watts on utube talking a bit about the Bass Player Transcription how good it was and how he gave up after trying to play it after the second page as it was beyond his sight reading skills, I thought at the time honest, but, why the hell if a magazine is going to feature somebody why not get them to write the part out. Saw a similar interview with John Paul Jones and he also said he had never seen a correct transcription of his Zeppelin lines.

I can't imagine I am likely to ever play this in a live situation, so I will use both versions as sight reading practise and then one day I may be better than Nathan Watts (at sight reading I mean). :)

Here is the new cleaned up transcription. Now off to Cardiff to soak up the Rugby vibe with Ireland. Brains Dark here I come. :)

13.
Nice! Funky! And nice!

Some man for getting all this together!

I'm busy until Sunday but I plan on getting my Nate Watts chops on all day Sunday.
Thanks for the message.

P.S.I hope we are having onion gravy? :)

14. I have been wanting to take a look at this chart for sometime. Big thanks to Gareth a fellow Basschat member for the email.

Cleaned up the original scan, plus removed Tab, plus written tune up a half step to save having to tune down or read part up.

The original notation here is actually written as it sounds (down a half step) so to play correct you will need to play the notes up half a step ie. if a B is written then what you should play is a C etc.

Have included the Stevie Wonder track raised up a half step so you can play along. Tune makes more sense played this way (same as Nathan Watts plays) as open strings can be used for the fret board leaps.

:) I will not even try to explain fully, but if you ignore the tuning guide in the TAB, then the written TAB will work with the up half step
version I have posted, likewise if you play the song as written without re-tuning then you will be able to play along with the original recording but unless you have a 5 string then the bottom D#/Eb is out of range of a normal tuned 4 string.
So unless your inclined to tune your bass down a half step for just this song, then I suggest you download the up half step track and the up half step chart to play along.

So to conclude, if you learn and play the up half step chart and then decide to play with the drop tuning (down half step) then also play along to an original recording of the song in the correct key then the parts would be identical, so nothing to relearn, same note positions and same fingering (remember I raised the mp3 file by a half step).
Not sure if any of that makes sense but then again I am a bass player and not a teacher of music theory.

Perhaps someone else would care to explain clearer.

This is a great Transcription of the entire extended version. The single version was just re-arranged sections of this version, so it should be straightforward to cut and paste song.

If anyone is interested I can also post the Sibelius file, just let me know. Of course this is for educational purposes only.

Note: :) Found a few errors in the up half step file (Photoscore and original chart wrong), as of 11am 11/03/11 posted corrected part.

Enjoy

The Do I Do Final PDF is Joes better transcription with the Bass Player version added to the end to complete also the the slap section from Joes post. So far I have only found a couple of mistakes, in the slap section there is a bar rest missing and in the K section 5th bar there is an F written, this should be an Eb.

15. Hi guys the site link is no longer available. I like others are still searching for a good transcription of "Do I Do" so if anyone has it please can you post.

Many Thanks

Managed to find the moved site, its now http://www.arcellussykesmusic.com/index.php?/transcriptions/ some great transcriptions there.

But the transcription is the same as I have seen before, still looking for the Bass Player June 2010 version. Can't even seem to buy a back issue.
