Ha!Ha! But not for me mate. In a past life I was a carpenter, and for me paint kills the unique look of wood. All painted basses look the same, but there are never two grains the same, rather like snowflakes.

  2. The deal is done.

    For Sale.
My beloved Musicman Serial number E47642 completed on 07/25/05 It is a 2 EQ Sting Ray, Black with maple fretboard.
Has the usual few small very light knocks on the headstock ( see image.) however the neck and body are like new.
Only thing I don't like about this bass is the colour.

Have been looking for a Natural/Maple Stingray but nothing doing so have decided to sell bass in order to buy one.

    Comes with Hard Case.

Was £750.00 now looking for £700.00 plus shipping.

  3.
I know one isnt supposed to comment etc but...

Wouldnt it be cheaper/better to trade in one of your basses for a new natural Stingray?
No problem with the comment. Already tried that to no avail.

  4.
A collision or impact; A raised protrusion on the skin such as a pimple, goose bump, prayer bump, lie bumps, I.E.

    PM sent

    Sold pending usual

    Deal completed. Sold

  5. Slap Away.

Sorry guys and gals. This has not been transcribed too well. It is a12/8 tune so where 2 quavers are written, it should be a triplet/swing notation ie. a crotchet followed by a quaver.

  6.
Sorry I don't know the make of it, there's no labels and I've never even seen another like it. I bought it a few years ago from a guy off here for the SUB I had at the time, then later on by chance bought my 'ray off the same guy, sold the SUB and kept the case for my 'ray. Later when I was looking up past owners of my 'ray I realised it was originally the case that went with my 'ray and I'd unwittingly reunited them. :)
It's a wicked case - incredibly light (I think it's constructed with some sort of dense polystyrene) yet totally strong.

You know the instant you hit it with sandpaper a natural one will come up on here. :)

btw I saw your 2 for 1 offer.
You'd have more success just going for a straight sawp - your black/maple/2eq (arguably the most popular combo ever) for a natural 'ray.
As it is you are limiting your options by trying to get someone to part with money and end up with potentially one bass they don't want/need.
Cheers for the advice about my two for one offer, didn't even think of it in those terms have a a few offers for the Stingray but its cash I also need, if no offers by Monday I am planning to remove the post.
    Cheers
    Ron

  7.
there's a thread on the EB forum at the moment from some guy who did the same to his SUB. The SUBs are made of poplar, but it still looks really nice.

    I'd say go fer it!
Cheers for the info, will check it out.

  8.
It may look somewhat like mine (which has a bit more figuring than some)...

.. or it could look quite plain.

But you do realise you will be knocking a couple of hundred quid of it's value.
Not bothered about the loss in value. And I do realise the figuring may not be very good. Tried trading the two basses in the image above for a Natural Stingray, the Sandberg and Stingray, with hopefully a bit of cash my way to make up the shortfall in value, but as yet no takers.

Tell me what is the make of your Gig Bag? Not seen one like that.

  9. I have an 05 Musicman Stingray black with a maple kneck, love all there is to love about a bass except the colour. Been in contact with Ernie and he says that the body material is Ash so was contemplating stripping the finish off to go natural.
Has anyone tried this with a musicman? and if so what was the grain like. I know mine is unlikely to be identical but I maybe about to open a can of worms so some advise would not go amiss.

I would prefer two blondes than a blonde and brunette.

  10.
Ok the strap locks a keep coming loose on my bass..i mean the screws that hold em on to the body of course....what can i do? ive heard of the matchstick and glue method but can some one explain or send me a link?

    cheers!!
Hello Bubunga5, I know who you are. Hey but you know where I live, DOH!

Had the same problem and I came to the conclusion it was the Straplocks, I found the Ernie Ball to be the best as it allows a full 360 degree turn of the nut and all others simply don't.

  11.
Have amended my post. As regards a trade, now only looking for a Musicman plus any shortfall in cash there maybe, but not expecting the full £1500 in value.
A collision or impact; A raised protrusion on the skin such as a pimple, goose bump, prayer bump, lie bumps, I.E.

  12.
Just noticed how green my Teal looks in my avatar from the camera flash and with the Blue Pearl 5 making it even greener looking. It looks way less green in the flesh.
Phyco is a cool guy and deserves a well deserved BUMP for a really cool bass.

  13.
Up for trade, with hopefully a small amount of cash my way. My beloved Musicman Serial number E47642 completed on 07/25/05 It is a 2 EQ Sting Ray, Black with a maple fretboard. Have owned this bass less than a twelve month evreything about it is perfect, a few very small knocks on the headstock but the kneck and body are like new. Plus my Sandberg California JM4 post here http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=...p;#entry1176594 if bass is worth it then a closed wallet (and sod the taxman).

Looking for a Musicman ideally 4 string but could go for a 5 if the bass is right for me. Would like a Natural finish as the only thing I don't like about my Musicman is the colour not too bothered if it is stained but not a sunburst, an extra pickup or piezo would not go amiss either.

This is my last ditch effort to find the bass I am lusting after so if no offers may remove post early.

sorry about the quality, not easy trying to photograph a black object. If a nice day tomorrow with take shots outside.

Comes with Musicman case and pickguard. But if no Musicman case with trade then I would like to keep this

Which do you prefer Blondes or Brunettes?
Laptop working at the moment but not sure for how long, screen goes dark when I move the lid, must be a loose wire or something.

In case anyone is interested as I have not read this anywhere.
Been having problems posting images up here, simply deleted a few images from my old posts and was then able to.

  14.
After my previous sound clip thread, which gave a quick over view of a few basses, I thought I would focus on one bass at a time.

First up is my 2005 Ernie Ball Musicman Stingray 3EQ which has a maple neck and has just been restrung with brand new Elite Stadium strings. The bass is being played into a Genz Benz Shuttle 6 amp head with its EQ totally flat. A Mini-disc recorder is connected via the headphones socket on the amp to record the sound. This is then plugged into my Creative Labs sound card on my PC and converted via Creative Media Player into MP3.

So, the samples. I have tried to cover most options and included what I think I would probably use for my own personel sound. I have covered both fingerstyle and pick.

    1. Stingray 3EQ - Bass Full, Mids Flat, Treble Quarter - Fingerstyle

Let me know what you think of the different tones and vote away :)
Hi Linus, I know your post is over a year old but I maybe trading your old Stingray from Rob, it's a bass he bought from you and was wondering if these are the sound clips of that actual bass, and if so would it be possible for you to email them to me as the attachment are not working here. Hopefully you may still have them and it would be great to hear the bass before I buy. My email is [email protected]
Thanks for reading this and if you can sort it for me many thanks
    Ron

If you can tell me anymore about the bass that would be cool

  15. Have amended post.

For trade. My beloved Musicman Serial number E47642 completed on 07/25/05 It is a 2 EQ Sting Ray, Black with a maple fretboard. Have owned this bass less than 6 month, evreything about it is perfect. Has the usual few small very light knocks on the headstock ( see image.) however the neck and body are like new. Removed the pickguard but will ship with bass (see image).

Looking for a USA Musicman Stingray 4 string but only in Natural/Maple with a black pickguard, as the only thing I don't like about my Musicman is the colour.
If offered bass is worth more, then willing to trade my Sandberg plus upto a maximum of £300.00 but will except as low as £200.00 if bass on offer is worth it.

Sandberg is up for sale at 750.00
and My Stingray must be near the same value.

Comes with Musicman case and pickguard. But if no Musicman case, or, if seen better days then I would like to keep this.
