1. I ran into a guy like that before I hooked up with my current band - we got together and agreed which songs we were going to work on, I put in a load of time learning the songs then got an email from him saying he had "personal issues" and would have to hold off for a while. I had no problem with that, emailed him back saying to get in touch once he'd sorted everything out but then a few days later he posted another advert on JMB. Just wish people had the balls to be honest with me rather than wasting my time...
2. Me, at our first gig last week, also my time playing live. Yeah, I'm a late starter....
3. That's pretty sweet! Added to my presets on tunein so I can listen on my mobile too
4. I've been signed up at www.wikiloops.com for a while - there's loads of community-produced backing tracks available in a searchable database plus, if you record what you play as an mp3 you can upload it for other people to play over....
5.
the one reason i wouldn't want to take (take folks, not bring...we're British dammit !! ) a bass to work...
It's "bring" if I'm at work
6. I work 12 hour night shifts in an empty building - of course I bring my bass with me
7. We didn't get paid for our first gig last weekend but we had a good night out, saw some cool bands, didn't have to pay to get in and got to play live which is the reason we all got into this in the first place....
8.
Here is a link to the channel with a small selection of videos. If you want to watch them and let me know what you think of the videos I've put up that would be great help http://www.youtube.c...oliverblackmn90
That's a useful selection, I've had most of them bookmarked already hehehe This set of three videos on Scott's channel is really good for beginners too. Showed it to a friend of mine who thought he "couldn't jam"...
9.
Scott Devine's lessons are good, but I cant understand why he wears those silly gloves, anyone know?
He has a neurological condition called Focal Dystonia: http://scottsbasslessons.com/odds-and-sods/the-gloves
10. +1 for ER20s, sometimes they take a bit of a wiggle to get a good fit but other than that they're fine. I like the idea of swapping the filters out for headphone adapters though - going to get a set of molded plugs as soon as finances allow....
11. I've spent quite a lot of time watching bass lessons on youtube. Thomas Risell (MarloweDK) is a step above all the others I've found - really like his lessons and the videos are well made and easy to follow with good audio. Dave Marks and Scott Devine have some decent stuff too.

Sweet! no-one's taken ChrisB yet I've only been playing bass for a couple of years so I'm still prone to asking dumb questions and leaping to ridiculous conclusions. My gear isn't what you'd call exotic - I have an old Yamaha BBG4 and a Peavey TNT 115 combo which I bought secondhand from a guy at work. It's not exactly my dream rig but hey, the price was right, you know how it is.... I've been playing in an indie band based in Milton Keynes called Instant Social Conversion since March. It's the first band I've been in and we're still very much in the process of getting our sh*t sorted but it's coming together pretty nicely. We had our first gig last Friday which went down really well. It was also my first time playing live so I'm still pretty stoked about it \o/ Chris
