I've heard some good things about the TC Mojomojo and Andertons are currently selling them for a ridiculously low price (£47 incl delivery). Very tempted to get one!

...just seen they only had seven left in stock. Well just six left now :)

Just started using the Mojomojo, seems to work great so far!
Previously tried the Bass Soul Food.......couldnt get it to do anything worthwhile.

The first Orange heads were built by Matt Mathias at Matamp and badged Orange. Orange was just a music store in London at the time selling mainly second hand gear. Matt was a purist and perfectionist who was not at all keen on hi-gain. It was one of the reasons Matt and Cliff Cooper fell out, as Cliff was pushing for more dirt.

So vintage Orange will be cleaner. Plus all the older Orange stuff is 100% hand-wired and very reliable, unlike the new Chinese built printed circuit board stuff. I don't think you could even compare them, two totally different things.

Late seventies/early eighties I had a Marshall Superbass 100w valve head with two 412 cabs. Boy it could fill a room but I wanted a clean sound back then, but it was unachievable with the Marshall. Knowing what I know now tho it would probably be tone nirvana for me these days!
I remember Matt at Matamp giving me a factory tour and demo of his 100w Matamp. He took great delight in showing how loud it could go, but it was no more than a distorted mush. Had an Orange valve head back then too. It used to cutout midsong every gig, same song everytime.

3. Fitted these to a bass I was convincing myself to keep. They were fitted for 1 day until I swapped the originals back and sold the bass! So nearly new in box.
These are great quality tuners. Require 14mm bore hole.

I can email pics to you, but they are the same as the info in the link, except mine have white inserts with the Gotoh logo. (Not black as in their pic).

SOLD

4. I recently bought a used Ashdown ABM amp. Every time I switch it on and the fans kick in, the room gets a waft of Glade plug in air freshener. Must have been stored in someones lounge. Thing is I hate the smell of such things, it gives me migraines. Had the amp apart a few times to clean but cant get rid of the smell!

Had the same problem with used basses too. Aftershave all over the neck!!

5. Yeh, used to happen on one of the threaded type saddles on my 50's p bass. Annoying. People say it can be cured by painting nail varnish or similar into the thread. But I dont agree with having to botch such things! Dunno, I've used Fenders all my life but starting to get tired of having to solve issues just to make em playable. The only bridges I havnt had problems with were both Squire Japan Silver Series basses.
