1.
Hi Dude tell me did you not like the sound Ashdown give you..would be interesting to hear your views..what other head/gear you comparing with..and where bouts the hell are you!
Hi

I never even got as far as trying the amp out so cannot comment on the sound. Although I hear good things about the Ashdown sound!

I am using a Gallien Krueger 700 RB with 2x10 and 1x15 cabs. Great sound but it's taken ages to get to grips with using it! At the time I bought the Ashdown because I wanted a simpler more straight forward amp. But since I learned to get the sound from the GK I'm gonna stick with it.
I'm in Yorkshire.

Cheers
Tony

2. Bought recently from a fellow BC'er, and since unused.
Only a few months old and in mint condition. No issues. I have decided to stay with my current rig hence reason for sale.

Comes with Ashdown canvas cover. Remainder of warranty in force should you need it.

Looking for offers around £320 plus postage in UK.

Which series is this, ABM or MAG?

4.
Owned and played Ashdown happily for a number of years. Never had any reliability issues and really like the sound too.

All subjective I guess, but if it was as bad as everyone says it is, I'd argue that you wouldn't see it on as many concert stages around the world as you do.
Phew!! Glad to hear that :)

5.
That looks brilliant. Did the body come with the earth strap on it or did you do that? Looks great either way.

A question about the S1 - looking at the parts kit it seems it's a series/parallel switch that does the same as the S1, but it's not actually the S1 system though, is it? I though the S1 switch was a latchable buttonrather than a push pull knob. The reason I ask is that I've been trying to get a S1 switch for ages but they're like rocking horse poo.....

Thanks.

The earthing strap comes with the Fender Custom Shop pickups. Probably dont need it but I like the look!

Regarding the S1 swithch I was told that Fender wont sell them so I didnt even bother trying to get one, and just went for a push/pull pot. Which I think works better as it's easier to see what position it's in. For me anyway.

How much was the S1 switching hardware? I'm interested in doing it to my Highway1 Jazz.
Takes about 2 weeks to get here.

7. Hi all

Finally got the Jazz together! Playability looking promising.

Parts were:
MIJ Neck (about 7 years old)
MIM Body
Reissue tuners (bought from Beedster)
Fender Custom Shop Pickups
Badass II
S1 switching (awesome)

Final picture, new jazz with his older brother....my MIJ 87 'P'

8. I'm on the lookout to buy above amp used.
Having heard mixed reports on reliability, particulaly from China, I am keen to pick up a UK made version.

Can anyone tell me what year they ceased production in UK? Or any easy way of distinguishing between them?

I currently use a Gallien Krueger combo + ext cab but it's breaking my back to lift the bugger, hence the move to seperate amp/cabs. However so far the GK has never missed a beat, and given I do about 150 gigs a year without backup, reliability is paramount.

Cheers
Tony

9. Hi
Same thing happened to my BLX 210. Luckily it was still under warranty and the shop has agreed to repair it...................that was two months ago, they're still waiting for a replacement speaker from Gallien Krueger!

Thing is now I dont need the cab and will sell it once it's repaired, they have offered to put an Eminence speaker in there but I would prefer an original (be it better or worse) as I think that would give me a better resale chance.

10.
McVie and Fleetwood. Not the best musicians in the world, but they were so tight you wouldn't be able to get a cigarette paper between them.

I guess that comes from 40 years of playing in the same band.

I wish.......
+1 for McVie and Fleetwood

11. Does anyone know if the 70's reissue bound necks are any different in thickness/profile etc than regular Jazz necks, say from the 62 reissue? If so how much difference is there.

Cheers
Tony

12.
I guess I'm just a guardian angel :) I looked at that bass and it just didn't look right, a bit like a girl who's had her nose and cheekbones done if that makes any sense?
Chris
PS I have no disdain for collecting basses at all, if you're referring to my comments in the recent discussion of the dubious CAR '72 Jazz, it's more that if you're a collector you have to know what you're doing. As a player, if I play a bass and like it I'm happy, even if the pickguard isn't original! Collectors I guess don't have that luxury, but perhaps can't complain if their lack of expertise leads them to a dodgy bass
Looks ok shapewise.

Go on Beedster you know you want it!!!
