1. HELLO

I´m selling this beautiful 2008 Warwick Thumb Bass Neck-Through 5 string.

The bass is in great condition without any dings or scratches, etc, neither on the headstock nor or the body! The body has also just received some Warwick Beeswax. I always took good care of this bass and you can see it in the pics.

But since I´m a Fender man, this bass was left on the stand for a while and will need a decent set-up! The neck developed a slight upper bow. I tried to correct it using the truss-rod (I tighten it has hard as I could, and though it has straighten the neck a bit, I stopped as I was afraid to brake the truss-rod). And the G-string (only this string, buzzes and becomes impossible to play in the second octave). Despite these things the frets hardly show any wear.

BTW, the light streak you see on the second octave of the fretboard is totally natural!!! And doesn´t affect playability or sound at all! Nothing, was spilled on top of that board. It´s just the way this specific type of wood was when it was cut by Warwick and made into a fretboard.

All the electronics work has it should!

Here is the serial number and the data collected from the Warwick site.

Serial No.:J-146516-08
Article Code:1275080004BDBPOOWW
produced:01/09/2008
Info: Thumb Bass, 5-string
Natural Oil finish
Bubinga Pommele body
Ovangkol neck
Black hardware

Also has
Eboby fretboard
MEC Pickups with 3 band EQ (9 Volt)

It comes with the original hardcase (has signs of wear, but that´s what hardcases are for), original truss-rod tool, allen wrenches, and strap-locks.

I´m asking 1100 pounds (shipping included - for Europe), which considering it´s condition and the price you have to pay for it new, or on Ebay, it´s not that much.

Thanks!

Looks like every bassist who's ever had a record out is 'underrated' by the look (and length) of this thread! :D
lol also shows that bass playing is a lot more than soloing pyrotechnics, backflips, triple slapping etc (tough I wouldn´t mind knowing a little bit more about some of the these things) :)

3. Hello,

I´m always buying and selling basses and I´ve come across this bass, but since I´m a Fender man I´ve decided to sell it.

It´s a 1978 (altough the pots indicate 1977) Gibson Grabber

It´s all original and has some wear marks on the back and on the neck (which I consider normal for a 30+ years bass).

It comes with the OHSC, but the Gibson logo has long disappeared.

Feel free to Pm for references and feedback (Ebay).

Price 700 Pounds / 870 Euros (with shipping included for the folowing countries - Spain, France, Austria, Germany, Belgium, Denmark, Netherlands, England, Italy, Luxembourg, Poland, Czeck Republic, Romenia, Bulgary, Hungary, Slovakia, Slovenia, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania)

Thanks!

4. I´ve had some BBs (all 80´s models); 300, 1000S, 1200S, and they are definitelly great basses considering the money they cost.

As a lot of people put it "P.Bass Killer"! Much more balanced and focused sound (and I mean even the cheapest 300!)

If you come across one of these 80´s BB (including the 1600, 2000 or 3000), for a good price, don´t even think twice! One of the models (can´t remember which) had a inverted P-bass pickup.

Btw, most of these models were MIJ (though some were later made in Taiwan). It goes without saying but the Japanese craftsmanship is top notch!

5.
Ha, same here. I have the Santa Cruz stuff on DVD now. Still watch it... and play along to the fIREHOSE stuff. I managed to speak to him last year at the Supersonic Festival. Nice guy...
old school skate rules!!!

Chris Chaney played with Jane's Addiction as well didn't he? Phenomenal bass player!
Chris joined the band when they decided ti reform. Eric did all the previous albums (except Kettle Whistle where they got Flea to do the original songs)

It has been done a few times, But I'll add my usual list.

Mike Watt
Rob Wight
Andrew Weiss
MIke Watt made me become a bassplayer - I loved his line on Brave Captain - It was the only encounter I had with his music back in the day, as a kid watching Santa Cruz sk8 movies-just amazing!

8. As this topic ever been created?

Im sure there´s one here, but I couldn´t find it (sorry in advance), so here goes..

I feel that there are a number of bass players that don´t the recognition they deserve, so I´ve decided to open this topic so all of us can write down the name of those unsung bassplayers out there!

I´ll start with Chris Novoselic - I´m not a fan of Nirvana, but I feel that his lines in Nevermind are just great.

Another one that doesn´t get any credibility ( I´m a big fan, but his latest albuns are pure crap IMHO), is Lenny Kravitz - he plays the bass on all of his songs, and the sound he gets his just amazing. It sits high in the mix and all with a great vintage tone!

Cheers

It's more a point of a p bass that is set-up how you might like it to be. I am buying it as I like the look and features of it. What's with the wheel reinvention??? it is a p bass???
Please, don´t get me wrong, I think it´s total legit for Fender to sell these type of basses, but for me, since I was never a sig type bassist, I can´t understand all these commercial moves..

But it´s a Fender, beats 90% of the Warwicks out there lol (now I´m in trouble)

10. Hello

Thanks for all the tips.

Though I´m a newbie, I´m planning on using Basschat to sell the basses I come across, or already have and don´t use them.

I´m going to use this topic in other to be as clear and as trustworthy as possible as to the items I may sell.

I´ve been using Ebay, but I´m tired of giving them and Paypal my money!

Regards from sunny Portugal

11. Hello

Here´s mine

83 Stingray - transred with rw board.

Bought it with OHSC (rectangular case in white with red interior)

"Strange" things on this bass, though they look totally original

One more dot marker
All of them seem to be mother-of-pearl
Flush battery cover (i think that´s the correct word)
The hole for the screw immediatelly behind the pickguard isn´t drilled

Again, I have no reason to believe that they aren´t original and that the bass isn´t 100% stock.

I'm using the GK 700RB-ll, with an Ampeg SVT410HLF. My cab is 85 pounds. For me the head is worth every ounce, or what ever weight measurement you go by. I'd stick with the GK 700RB-ll.
I don´t plan to sell my GK- I´m just tired and getting old lol so a little less weight to carry around would be great!

Thanks again for all the answers!

13. Hey guys

I´m tired of breaking my back carrying my GK 700RB-II /Ampeg 1X15 every weekend from gig to gig!

I´m thinking on getting a lighter amp that would give me the sound I get from my GK.

I´ve tried the Aguilar Tone Hammer, but it´s way to expensive.

Tried the EBS, but didn´t liked it at all!

For the money I want to spend I´m stuck with the PF500 or the MB500-the former I can try it here, but the GK doesn´t get imported to Portugal .

Any thoughts on both of these class-D heads.

I´m trying to maintain the sound I get from my GK700, but without all the Kgs!

Thanks
