1. I play it the same way you do. I find that by using a barre I can let the bottom note ring out whilst I'm playing the octave & 7th above it. It may not be exactly true to the original part, but, it is the chorus and it needs to be big. I don't have loads of layered samples, backing tracks etc etc so I'm gonna make a f*ck load of noise there, especially so in the insturmental chorus just before the end. No apologies, just crank it up, nail it and enjoy :D :D :D

At the end of the day it doesn't matter how you do it, as long as you're comfortable with it that's all that matters.

  2. I get the same as every one else in the band. If I asked for £100 for a pub gig that pays £50 to the rest of the band I'm never going to hear from them again. Whether it's a small paying pub gig or a decent paying function I just ask myself if I'm available that night, if I want to do it, and if it's worth it because of distance to travel & petrol costs. I don't normally have to learn too many songs as I've been at this a while and pretty much know most of what I'll be asked to play. But I always do my homework and learn (and chart out in case I need to play the songs again in the future) any songs i didn't already know. There have been times in the past where learning 20-30 songs for one gig hasn't been uncommon but these days it's usually only a handful at most. My approach to depping is simple - turn up at the gig completely prepared, do a solid job without showing off all over the place, and be confident in my playing that next time that band want a dep I'm top of the list or damned close to it. That way, in time, the phone will ring and more gig offers will come my way.

  3. A weekend of pub gigs for me. A fun one in Fulham Friday, but Saturday in Leyton was awesome. It was a proper old fashioned East End pub and we were booked to do 3 sets but the landlady asked us to do one more set at the end. That's when we really turned it on and pulled out a few songs we hadn't done in a while, and we nailed the lot. The place was jumping. Sore fingers and my voice is shot now but totally worth it.

  4. I live in London. The gig was near Plymouth, 240 miles away. The band were really on it, a great gig. After the gig, around 1am, the car wouldn't start. It took another 13 hours and 3 AA relay trucks to get home. That was a long day & night. Why can't these things happen when you play 2 miles from home? Lol.

  5. I have played with one particular KB player for years, and it never fails to shock me how ham fisted, un swinging and groove ruiningly bad his playing is. On a gig I have to try hard to pretend he's not there. What is odd is this, he has a superb ear. One of the best I've ever come across. It's a funny old world......

  6. I got turned on to this show recently. I love it. Until, that is, I listened to the link above. Does anyone agree with me that Cee Lo really isn't much of a singer? He mumbles his way through most of the song, awful delivery. The band are on it as to be expected but he's a major let down IMHO.

  7. For sale. Two Hartke HA3500 bass amps. 350 Watts, valve & transistor pre amps,10 band graphic EQ, master bass & treble pots, compressor, effects loop and on board DI. They were my regular amp and back up amp until recently, but since I've recently bought a Genz Benz they're surplus to my needs now.

One is the older black fronted amp. In good condition, has always lived in a rack. Works perfectly. £100.

The second is the newer model with the silver front. Again, has always been racked, good condition, works perfectly. £120. This one is currently in a 3 unit flight case, so there's one unit spare. It's a proper metal British Airways proof case, not one of those cheaper plastic numbers. it's well used but does the job perfectly. I don't mind selling the amp without the case but if somebody wants the case I'll throw it in with the amp for an extra £40.

Collection in person is preferable, from London N4, anytime.

  8. I bought this cab off ukbassboy here on BC two weeks ago. Although it's a blinding cab I'm looking for a different sound so it's back up for sale for what I paid for it, £425. It comes with a non-padded roqsolid cover. The feet were replaced by ukbassboy for better gripping feet. He gigged it twice, and I've done two gigs and two rehearsals with it. It is in new condition.

Here's the link to ukbassboys original ad

I'd prefer collection in person from North London but will consider shipping it.

    Cheers.
