1. Sure thing Pete, You're on the list, should be a couple of weeks. Cheers, Daf
2. Thanks for that Chris. I know ubassman has the prototypes on test at the moment - London buses or what! Having said that, I think he should be done with them pretty soon, so hopefully he'll be in touch. Cheers! Daf
3. Thanks for that Gareth, Yeh, as far as pizz goes these definitely weren't designed to be steel cored growlers - I wanted to maintain the idea of a gut sounding string, (but with a bit more brightness and life than the "old" braids), so they have that smack at the front end but do then die off quicker than perhaps a steel core would. Arco wise, I wanted them to be more easily bowable, and they do take a slow and/or light bow really well, and will play right down on to the bridge without breaking up, so they are proving to be very popular in the classical world, especially among those who like to use a powder rosin. Thanks for the review - much appreciated! Cheers, Daf
4. Hi Johnny, Yeh, no problem - I'll put you on the list... I've no idea where we're at at the moment, so I'll look in to it. Cheers, Daf
5. Thanks Cattytown, yeh a lot of the guys who use like them for jazz or blues/roots mention the nice "click" or "pop" at the start of the note - I'd also love to use them more myself, but sadly the amount of bowing I have to do makes it impossible... Glad you're enjoying them!
6. Ah sorry, just saw your edit... You need to upload it to Flickr or photo bucket then post a link. Ta.
7. Hi Richard, Any chance of a picture and description of where the break is? Ta! Daf
8. Hi Cattytown, No problem - sorry i didnt see your post before... i'll get in touch with Jhowhdheyieh, i think hes done with them now...
9. Oh, as for the ends - yeh, it's funny, people seem divided on the colour issue.... I think the original reason was the whole "ultra black" thang.. But, in fact the silk colour of the braid orchestral string was changed to black because people thought the mauve ends clashed with their basses!
10. Hi Chris, Glad you're on the mend - and glad you like the strings! I'm just sorry they took so long to get round to you...
11. Hi Chris, Thanks for that - it certainly does help! Hope you're doing ok... Daf
12. Hi Richard, Sorry, I only just spotted your post, but thanks very much for the feedback! Cheers, Daf
13. Hi Bob, Sorry I didn't get back to you yesterday.... I'm afraid I can't get the strings any cheaper; I did ask innovation about the possibility of selling strings through Basschat but they felt that their dealers might see it as unfair competition and didn't want to upset them. Second hand, i think they quite often come up in the fore sale section - worth a look? Cheers, Daf
14. Hi Adam, Sorry, for the extremely late reply!! - I'd say similar, though it, of course. depends on which particular string.... but they are much thicker.... Cheers, Daf
15. Fair enough. Mods, please remove. Thanks
16. Hi All, I have a little problem... Gary Rudd (rudders on here) took a set of strings to test months ago and has disappeared. So I was wondering if anyone knew him and could get him to do the decent thing and return them. Thanks, Daf
