  1. Adee, I'm not familiar with Grounded, but I've just been looking at the bio on your website. How many bass players???
  2. Hi BassTractor, I am happy mate. As I said on another thread somewhere, the 215 combo is a little quiet by itself, but sat on top of the 115 it sounds wicked. It took an effort to work out the best set up in tandem with the me-50b, but well worth it, punchy and bassy and well balanced. Obviously I bought the combo first before adding the stand alone cab, and if was starting again I'd probably have separates for portability. But apart from that I'm very happy.
  3. Yep, I've seen you guys, good band! I reckon we're doing the same circuit, I play with The Retro. www.soundcloud.com/theretro
  4. Hello, I've already posted a couple of times, but thought I should properly introduce myself. I'm a 37 year old Bassist from Higham Ferrers in Northants. I played in indie bands all through my youth and then had a lay off for nearly 10 years due to marriage and kids. I started up again early last year and haven't looked back, in fact I struggle to understand why I left it so long! I play a seventies Fender Mustang, it's a short scale bass, but I've had it for years and it's still my favourite guitar. I also have an Ibanez Artcore bass (there's a short scale theme here), and I play through an Ashdown ABM 500 Evo III C210T on top of a 115 cab. I also run it all through an ME-50b effects pedal which produces some interesting sounds.
  5. May as well add mine too, my band are called the Retro and you can take a listen and comment at www.soundcloud.com/theretro
  6. Thanks guys, I put all that to good use gigging last night. I went the direct route ignoring the fx loop I turned off the overdrive and compression on the amp and cranked up the distortion through the ME50B. The sound was superb, I could hear every note played, the tone was everything I wanted. Really impressed, thanks for the advice.
  7. I've got an Abm 500 c210 combo, the 2x10 version of the one you're talking about. Whilst the sound is terrific, all that everyone has said is true, unless it's a really small venue, it simply isn't loud enough on it's own. I had to buy the deep 115 cabinet to get it performing to the max. This rig is superb and really punches it's weight, but given it's size does render the combo a little redundant. Next time out I'll definitely go for separates though.
  8. That's really helpful, cheers for the advice hamfist. I'm working from home tomorrow, which is code for "i'll be trying all of that out, all day long".
  9. Hello, first time poster here. Just bought an ME-50B to add some interesting effects to my sound. I've never entertained effects pedals before hence I'm not too sure exactly the best way to set up. Should I still plug the guitar directly into my ABM500 with the ME-50B running through the effects loop at the back, or should I plug my bass into the pedal and line this out into the instrument input of my ABM?
