Total Watts

  1. Hi All, I need a bassist for a new project. Essentially a rock band but bordering on prog. Think spocks beard and rush rather than dream theater. Plenty of scope for adding melodic bass lines etc with a sprinkling of synths here and there. Please check out www.myspace.com/daveswann for some rough demos that ive sketched up for the project (top 3 tunes on the player) Thanks Dave
  2. thanks rich, yes, its the s2 classic circa 2000/2001 the first headless 6 they made (certainly of that model maybe full stop) and theres an engraving on teh electronics cover! My collegue ian had your kingbass for a bit, which i liked a lot, ridiculously easy to play, altho the slap sound seemed to disappear a bit but i think thats an amp issue. I played drums on a motown show with him on bass. Ill certainly have another play with the eq when i next change my strings. (theyre due now, just finished a 55 show panto in stoke and pleased to be home, and they weren't new when i started!) Dave
  3. Hey nick, great to hear from you. (it was you who frequented the status yahoo group, possibly even started it? Havent been there in yonks!) Didnt you start up a bass company, hows that going? Thanks for the info. Im in london now so much easier to get down to colchester. I was probably going to have a look at the circuit myself and put some of my uni degree to work so i let you know how it went. I think the mid band wants a tighter q and slightly less gain and it will be perfect. Take care Dave
  4. Hi all, Just wondered if anyone could offer some advice, I have been using an s2 6 string headless for several years now (thru necked version) and am thinking about getting another bass. The s2 has an awesome fundamental tone with real focus which i REALLY like but i have never been able to get a decent slap sound out of it. There doesnt seem to be many over tones (although the harmonics are strong) Even with new strings it seems a bit mediocre. I remember trying a 6 string stealth years ago through a big warwick rig and it had so much clout for the slap sound but cant remember what the finger style sound was like. Currently using bergantino ip112 with the HT112 extension so im fairly sure its not the amp limiting my sound. What i want to know is..... Do the new stealths have more top end sparkle to get that real "thunk" when slapping but at the same time have the real focus for finger style. Anyone had both and can give me a comparison? Was thinking the stealth 5 headed so i can have the longer scale. What about the different pres in the stealth compared to the s2? Anyone tried any different pickups/preamps in an S2? Thanks Dave
  5. Hey, been looking for something like this If this is still available, when can i come and try it. Want to pay money as dont really have anything i want to trade Dave
  6. nice axe man. I actually have the first 6 headless s2 they made and i cant part with with it! (Although i possibly wish id gone for the 35") just wondering what the bass was in the profile pic. D.
