1. Ampeg bass stack.... BR2E 450watt mossfet bass head with graphic, DI and ground lift, Behringer V amp FX unit (all housed in a Gator 8 space rack unit), BHLF 4x10 ported bass cab. BA115 bass cab. This is one kick-ass rig Immaculate condition, lightly gigged as I changed to a combo some time ago (I'm not playing clubs anymore).....(total cost £2000...sell for £900) (I'll throw in an AKG wireless system for anyone who offers the asking price)
 2. I've noticed there are two ranges of GK speakers one is called Neo and the other MBE,as both are equipped with neodynium speaker and the 212 versions both are 600watt and available in 4 or 8 ohms. The NEO range is more expensive but how do the two versions compare?
 3.
I bought a GB Shuttle but the Orange sp212 cab whislt it gives me 600 watt handling doesn't move air. I'm looking for a cab weighing about 30 lbs to go with it, excluding the GB cabs can anyone suggest a suitable cab thats light and portable?
I've considered the GK 212 mbe...not sure whether to get the 4 or 8 ohm version

 5. Thanks for all the replies guys its been really helpful...seems my choice of cab was wrong since whilst i am able to get the volume i want the isobaric cab isn't giving me any punch. I will try hooking up my Ampeg 8 ohm 200 watt speaker along with the 212. Trouble is the clipping on the amp, how is it possible to be 'over-driving' the amp...i'm using an Overwater active bass which by nature is bright and punchy but surely the amp should be able to handle this? Is there any danger that I could blow the amp and if so how do I counteract this?
 6.
Isobaric means one speaker in in front of the other, the airgap between them is of static pressure, which is what 'isobaric' means. It means the two act as one speaker but with two motors, they sink twice the power but move the same amount of air as a single speaker, the upside is you can get away with a smaller box behind them as you have twice the power to expand and compress the air 'spring' in it, smaller cab is harder spring, larger cab is softer spring style.
So in essence the drivers although having twice the wattage of say a single 12 are only moving the air of one...meaning they are louder but not as punchy?
 7.
Don't understand 'dual motor' How does an isobaric 212 differ from an ordinary cab? Also to run 2 x 8ohms cabs should i be connecting them via the two speaker inputs on the reverse of the amp rather than connecting the second cab via the dual jack inputs on the reverse of the speakers.
its not that i want 600watts of power on stage, rather it is to try and avoid the clipping by being able to run the amp without having to put the master and pre-amp volumes right up.
 8.
Bear in mind its an SP isobaric job, so it isn't really a 2x12 but a dual motor 1x12.
Don't understand 'dual motor' How does an isobaric 212 differ from an ordinary cab? 9. Impedence111....help. I'm running a GB Shuttle 6.0 through an Orange SP212. The GB head delivers 375w @ 8 ohms and 600w @ 4 ohms. tonite the amp's clip/ limiter light was permanently lit and i really had to push the amp to get volume. The speaker is 8 ohms and isn't switchable...I need several questions answered. 1. Does the amp automatically deliver the higher wattage to a 4 ohms speaker (there's no switch on the amp) 2. can i change the ohmage of the speaker without a 'switch' 3. Can i daisy chain another 8 ohm cab and will this deliver an ohmage platform for the amp to deliver its higher wattage of 600w or will two 8 ohm speaker still only produce and 8 ohm capacity. 4. Why when the speaker wattage is 600 watts and I presume the amp is only delivering 375watts is the amp clipping. 5. Can I daisy chain speakers of 8 and 4 ohm 6. Should i just admit the speaker and amp are incompatible and buy a 4 ohm speaker with enough wattage headroom
 10.
I've had Shuttle 6.0 for a couple months. Last week traded it back for my old trusty trace gp12 smx. Have to say, that I loved genz, but 600 watts from it were nowhere near 350 watts from trace. Sorry to say but I was really struggling to get proper volume playing live, constantly turning back and checking if I don't overload the amp. Maybe that's the problem with speaker cab that doesn't match very well (using trace 1x15), but again same speaker with trace head sounds great with plenty headroom. Saying all that have to say also if I'd have some spare money to spend I'd probably buy another GB, maybe small combo, for home practicing
My Orange cab is 600 watt 8 Ohm cab surely the amp should put out the full 600 watts but the red clip light was on virtually throughout the gig
 11.
Gigged my new shuttle 6 last weekend with an Orange sp212 isobaric cab, loved the sound of the amp, one thing tho, i really had to have the master volume up to 3 o'clock and the gain/ volume on the pre-amp....am i doing something wrong? For a 600 watt head i don't appear to have a lot of headroom wattage wise...(I use an Overwater active bass)
I was using a speakon to jack lead...perhaps i would have more headroom if i used speakon to speakon. Also there are two speakon connections at the back of both the GB and the Orange cab..think this makes a difference?

 13. Thanks for all the replies guys and 'yes' it does take a jack in the middle of the speakon. Can''t believe how dinky the speaker cab is but how much air it moves, the Genz Benz shuttle sounds amazing though it.... at last a high quality sound with a tiny footprint (ideal for when your stuck playing between the bog and the bandit in some shithole....now to make a little rack to elevate the amp above the carrying handle of the speaker cab.
 14.
Without pics its difficult, but i wouldnt expect to get much more than £100 for it, how much did you pay? I too believe they are made of plywood?
My mate give it to me gratis, so i've cleaned it up. Put a new bridge and chrome knobs on the pots....its really solid virtually like a real precision much better than a squire copy
 15.
I don't think they're worth big money. They were at the time budget basses, made out of plywood.
This bass is a natural wood finish tho so it cant be plywood it feels like (weight...its heavy) its made of Alder
 16.

I'm with you on this song, I bleeding hate it (you know how bad a bassline it has) its always 'wheeled out' to the drunken masses at the end of the nite. I have point blank refused to play despite being nagged by the rest of the band.

 18. We play 'come together' its unashamedly bass orientated too!
 19. I have a Japanese Columbus P bass and want some info about it. The spec is great on it and it feels like my Fender p bass It has the serial number 195M and I'd like to know 1. When it was made 2. Is this an early model 3. What sort of prices do these command if selling
 20. I know this sounds like a daft question particularly as i've been playing bass for 30 years. i have bought an Orange SP212 cabinet which was delivered without any manual. Can anyone tell me if the speaker connector has a jack connection in the middle of it or is it speakon only?
 21. Hi, first post on here, i normally use Ampeg gear...I have the 450 Fet head with 4x10 and 1x15 cabs, I also use a Trace 150watt combo with my Overwater percetption and 1978 Fender P bass. My question is as follows:- I have recently bought a Genz Benz STL 6.0 head and the Orange SP212 Isobaric speaker. Firstly are these compatible and secondly the GB head is so light it 'pivots' on the carrying handle of the cab. If I put the head in a 19inch rack it will overhang the cab which is only about 14inches wide (plus your looking at £130 for the rack and the mounting kit. I'm worried that the head is so light I could easily pull it off the cab when playing.....any ideas? Other gear Cort active, Columbus P bass , Yamaha rbx, Roland 100 cube

Quote
MultiQuote
Edit
