    And now for my lovely Stingray...

    Sadly, she doesn't get used any more so I'm putting her up for sale to fund a new 5-string purchase.

    Bought new from the Bass Centre Birmingham in July 2001. Gigged often over the years but she has always played 2nd fiddle to my GB IV.

    Still in mint condition, everything works perfectly and she plays and sounds fantastic - just what you'd expect from a 'ray. Original MM hard case included.

    Collection preferred but will consider shipping within UK and EU if necessary if the buyer is willing to pay.

    £600 cash, no trades please.

    Sarah's still there but it was a guy who called up last Friday and who we also spoke to earlier in December.

    Up until a few months ago they were reliable enough but Sarah seems to have stepped away from booking the bands lately. In fact, the only real problem we've had with them was back in December 2006 when we turned up only to find another band already setting up on the stage. Sarah admitted the cock-up and allowed us to set up at the other end of the pub. We then alternated sets with the other band! It worked out quite well in the end!

    My band is Big G's Band - soul/funk covers.

    I see you're from Redhill. I live in Epsom but the other members of the band are strung as far apart as Brighton, Billingshurst and Tunbridge Wells! So somewhere around the EG area is quite central for us. We're looking for another venue in the Surrey/Sussex area to supplement (eventually replace?) the Crow's Nest so I'd be interested to know what other venues you play at.

    Hey Merton, nice to know another Basschatter who gets to experience the delights of playing the Crow's Nest!!

    My band has had regular (every 3-4 months) Saturday night gigs there for the last couple of years. However, there seems to have been a change in leadership there lately and we've had a couple of recetn dates cancelled by them at the last minute.

    The latest one was last Saturday, 3rd Jan, which had originally been booked for the 27th December...and cancelled then at the last minute when we approached the venue to confirm the date!! The venue actually phoned us on Friday to cancel the gig for the next night!

    We have now been given another date for early February but we no longer trust them with future dates we've been given.

    Anyway, just to forewarn you in case you haven't experienced this kind of problem with the Crow's Nest. I hope they don't mess you around!

    Nah, not a Bee bass. Not my type! Actually, never heard of them before...

    Difficult to say how long the batteries last as I don't use them all the time, only at selected venues. At a guess I probably replace them once a year and have never had a problem with them running out mid-gig.

    The serial number stamped into the back of the headstock is C-060427-99. Can anyone in the know confirm the build date from this? The -99 suffix ties in with the year I bought it but maybe things are not that obvious with Warwicks...

    The pups are Basslines. The majority of SS1's I've seen appear to have MECs.

    Yep, a lot of bass for a very good price! I have a bee in my bonnet about what I want to replace it with so want to sell quickly...before that bee buzzes off!

    Thanks very much my friend! Much appreciated. I gauged the price to try and reflect its age and the fact that it's been a great workhorse bass for me. It's in superb condition with only one small scratch on the upper horn (difficult to get a clear picture of it!) and the usual slight 'fading' of the gold hardware.

    I'm not a member of the Warwick forum although I did consider joining to sell this bass.

    The twin 9v batteries for the LEDs are neatly housed in the control cavity so apart from the magnifier lenses where the dot markers would be (or wouldn't be on a Warwick...) there is no external evidence of any of Mr Sims' work!

    Aah, the low B on this bass is lurvely - has a nice growl to it! There's nowt wrong with a nice 5-er!

    The brass nut was factory fitted. It has string height adjustment via screws in each slot.

    I have no problem with this if the buyer is prepared to meet half the cost. I sold a Status to a guy in Helsinki back in the summer and the shipping cost was approx GBP 90, so probably safe to assume a similar cost (or slightly less) for Sweden?

    Reluctantly for sale is my beloved Streamer Stage I 5-string.

    Flamed maple body and through neck, natural waxed finish, gold hardware, custom-fitted red Sims LEDs (front and side).

    I bought it new from The Bass Centre in the summer of ’99 and it has been one of my 2 main gigging basses ever since. It has never gone wrong or needed any repair work and has simply been a fantastically reliable and versatile bass.

    The bass comes with an original Bass Centre padded gig bag (aah nostalgia!) as hard cases were not supplied as standard back then.

    Only reason for selling is that I fancy trying something different after all these years!

    On the basis that The Gallery are selling a couple of similar examples, albeit probably slightly newer, for £1300-1400 and mine has over £400 of custom-fitted LEDs I’m looking to sell for [b]£900 cash[/b] (no trades or swaps please).

    Go for it OTPJ, you won't be disappointed! Great feel, fantastic tone, perfect weight.

    In fact, when it's in it's case it feels soooo light, even lighter than when it's strapped on! How do they do that? Must be some kind of gravity-reducing case...

    Anyway, got it from those wonderful chaps at guitarguitar in Glasgow. First class service!

    Well, I was a good boy all year so imagine my disappointment on Christmas morning when I didn't find a nice, shiny new Metro UV70 under the tree. :)

    So, sod you Santa! I've gawn and bought one meself! :huh:

    Raidal Bigshot I/O "true bypass"

    I use a Radial Bigshot I/O all the time.

    It's a solidly well-built , neat-sized metal box (about 4" x 3") which fits neatly on my pedalboard. So it's slightly smaller than most stomp boxes.

    One of the inputs has a "dim" switch that allows you to equalize the output levels of your basses, so the idea is that you put your most powerful bass through the input with the "dim" switch. There's also a dedicated Tuner out and a mute switch so you can tune up in silence between songs.

    I actually replaced my Bassbone with this. The Bassbone was a great piece of kit but I really didn't need all the extra tone-shaping facilities or another effects loop. It was also bloody heavy whereas the I/O is passive so much lighter. It's also completely silent in operation.

    They're not too cheap compared with the likes of the Boss switcher but I reckon you could jump up and down on it 'til kingdom come and it wouldn't break.

    Go for it!

    +1000 to this.

    For the last 6 years I have suffered quite regularly from muscle tightness and pains in my left shoulder often resulting in severe headaches over my left eye. It's caused by overcompensating for a lower back problem (unilateral sacralisation of the L5 vertebrae, apparently...WTF??!!). I'm only 41 and pretty fit for my age too!!!

    It's not all aggravated by gigging but the upshot is that I really have to pay close attention to my posture, both sitting and standing, at all times...especially when gigging. The tendency to lean more heavily on one foot or unconsciously raise my left shoulder whilst playing a gig can result in extreme discomfort in my left shoulder and neck the next day.

    I see a chiropractor once every 6-8 weeks and this relieves the discomfort and puts me back in shape for a while but I guess it's just something I have to put up with.

    My advice;

    * pay close attention to your posture when playing or practicing
    * if it doesn't ease up or gets worse go see a chiropractor or osteopath
    * make sure you stretch out your back and shoulders properly after every gig
    * keep as fit as you can, especially if you're over 40!

    That's the thing that stumped me for a while - the guitar/keys are playing F# in the intro/chorus/middle 8 but the synth bass is playing a low Eb against it. I was trying to pick this out on a 4 string and it took me ages! Doh!!!

    Got the 5er to hand now...

    Thanks again guys! See, it's a bloody catchy little song when you have to keep listening to it over and over and over and over and over...

    Seriously though, it is one of those bass lines that makes the song (hey, wasn't there a thread about this a few weeks ago?). Lowdown is spot on, it's a tight synth part - screw it up and the whole song goes to f*ck!

    OK, at the risk of being laughed off the forum and having my fingers broken, I have to learn this song for tomorrow night. Aaaaaaarrrgh!

    I've burned it off i-Tunes but to save me staying up until the early hours of tomorrow trying to figure it out I thought I'd ask if anyone out there has learned this before and could help me cut some corners?

    I've got the basic root notes down but could use some urgent help with nailing the other notes in the verse, chorus and middle 8 riffs.

    Apparently, it's very important to the person paying our fee that we actually play this live and not just resort to using a backing track!
