Only ever done quiet restaurant gigs with it - never gone above 50% volume and well looked after - amazing sound with my double bass but also sounds nice when I play my Ubass through it. I had adjusters fitted on my bass about a year ago and it has allowed me to experiment with different string heights to suit both my playing and to get the best sound (for me) out of this particular bass. One important lesson I have learned is that the 'Higher action = greater volume' is not strictly true as the increased pressure seems to choke the sound and sustain. My advice to a beginner would be to get adjusters fitted and only go as high as needed to let the bass speak properly without excessive string clatter. Don't overdo it with string height initiallly - you won't get a machismo medal, you'll just end up with tendonitis.

    I’ve just reduced the price of my double bass on the ‘Basses for Sale’ section. If any of you doublers know of a student or aspiring jazzer that needs a good instrument (Fully carved - no plywood) for £750 I’d be so grateful if you could pass the word on. Cheers Chris

    SSD neck thru body 4 string electric bass bought new in late 90s for £650. Dark blue in colour, EMG pickups, 2 volume pots (1 per pickup) and bass and treble pots. This bass has been so good for me. I originally started with really cheap student bass with a fixed soundpost and cheap stained wood fingerboard and was nearly put off playing for good!! . So pleased I tried something a bit more expensive which has had some care in it's construction. Just need someone to check it out and I know they'll be hooked on Double bass. Regards Chris
