Whoops forgot to mention i have had TPJs Hurley on lend for the last month ,but you are right if it don’t arrive it wont be good value. TPJ what a guy for lending me this pup , thanks again Tom .

[size="3"]I used the Hurley on my first jam night and first outing with my db yesterday (only been playing db around 2months). Did 4 songs and went down ok. During sound check it sounded excellent, really warm natural and smooth. I was going through a fender acoustic amp and a di out to a fishman pa,both are our singers for the backline.i think the main pa was a peavey. Couldn’t be bothered to drag my trace out.[/size] [size="3"]. I was unsure of a couple of songs so I turned down a notch just before we went on, basically I bottled it. The feedback later was that I wasn’t loud enough, surprise surprise. I have ordered a Hurley direct from Ryan Hurley in the USA but it still hasn’t come after over 3 weeks. I would certainly recommend these pups, they are very good value for money . i will update the forum when it finnaly arrives.[/size]

it would be nice to have a range of bridges all with different pups fitted .one day maybe . Steve i will give you a ring about that pint. Richard

yes i think it is slightly warped but it still seems to play ok .i will do some more reading up on the subject as i will defo be having a go at doing it myself. i had to take quite a bit out of the wing slots to fit the hurley that Tom lent me. i dont know if that might have weekend it? i do know that the db is 15y old so it would probably want a new one and it would be piece of mind too.i am hoping Tom will have a quick look over it when i take his hurley back in the next couple of weeks.

He said, although not essential yet, it would need a new bridge sometime in the future. How do you know when it needs a new bridge? Being a newbie I cannot tell.[/font][/color][/size]

do you think its worth getting a stand, do any of you guys have a stand?

When not in use I stand my db up in the corner of my living room with the spike out. It’s out of the sunlight and I don’t have central heating so I am hoping this would be ok? Will it put pressure on the spike or should I get a stand for it.

In other words are all acoustic amps suitable. From reading other members posts i get the feeling i am going to have a job amping my db up. Hi I have been reading a few posts on ampflication and I hear a few people using guitar amps for their db. Having just skinned myself buying my first db I was hoping (when I get a pup) to use my trace Elliot 100w combo that I use for my eb. I also have a 65w fender 112 deluxe that I use for my guitar could this be used also? Richard

Hi Steve Thanks for recommending Peter Hall. I have been over to his shop to see him today. .As a newbie to DB I thought I would take my stenor to get checked out.i have a buzzing problem which turned out to be a loose spike. He did that for me and sorted out my nut. Your right he is a nice guy he didmt even want any money for doing the work. I gave him a tenner, I will defo be going back there for any future work. no i am still looking for one. was thinking of getting a J tone i seen on ebay but after reading a few reviews i think i will hold on for something better

just put my 140 RBs back on. wow what a difference, i can play a bit now lol. think it was good practice to put steels on for a few weeks then go back to these. my fingers are hardened up alot and my wrists getting stronger too. just need that pick up now as hopefully going to a jam night in a month. i might go for the j tone that was recomended just for now . thanks for all advise

Thanks for the advice. I am on the look out for a piezo pickup now so i can put my 140RBs back on. i thought they were around the £100 mark thats why i put the mag on just for the time being.

Hi I have had to take my innovation rock a billys off as i have installed my new Schaller mag pickup and they will not work with the pick up . Not the ideal pick up i would have bought but this came with the DB deal i got. I have put the old steel strings back on and although they work ok with the pick up i cant seem to slap with them . what would be the best strings to buy to go with this pick up ? its a shame as i was geting used to the rock a billys and they had only been on 2 weeks. maybe someone on here would like to do a swap or something?
