1. They're awesome basses, it sounded the business & blew me away, just seemed slightly out of place, but then I guess when Les Paul created the Les Paul he didn't invision Zakk Wylde playing it with EMG's through a Marshall wall of sound, so I shouldn't just limit the Fender Jazz, to Jazz & Funk, definitely looks classier than Dave Mustaine's Dean Flying V's.

  2. Bought one from Coda in Stevenage last week, Swamp Ash 4 Strong Bolt On.. by far the nicest bass I've ever owned, hugely versatile with a great neck, nothing I don't like about it, definitely worth the extra money over the standard.

  3.
Sounds to me like it just makes your signal a bit thin and weak sounding. With guitar and bass, I preferred the sound before the pedal was turned on! Am I alone here?
It can do, but It's capable of doing pretty much the opposite too, it can really thicken up a sound add depth & warm it up, the differences are really obvious if you wire it early in your pedal sequence & add additional effects after, I use it to get a really dirty funk sound with my Bass Balls/Bass Juice after it, I occasionally use it on its own if I don't think my bass is cutting through the rest of the band, it's generally quite a subtle box I don't bother with it when I'm playing through my 15 watt practice amp, just when I'm using the 4x10 big rig.

  4. Lovely bass & very versatile too, I saw James LoMenzo wielding one a couple weeks ago at a Megadeth gig in Norwich, If I hadn't literally picked up my new Warwick Double Buck 2 days ago, I'd bite your arm off for this, aside from the limited edition Washburn Bootsy Space Bass & a Victor Wooten Fodera (like I'm ever gonna own either of these), I think this is the only signature I want..

    Consider yourself bumped :-)

I've just seen in G+B mag that this bass is to be made on general release again.... ooooooh I've got GAS again....
Yeah, Ampeg & Kent Armstrong had it at Namm 2008, think there is a bit of a waiting list on the USA preorders though, it's not my style but it's so damned pretty I kinda want one just to look at..

  6. Yeah, the L in G&L stands for Leo, as in Leo Fender, its the company he founded after leaving Musicman, and G&L make very nice alternatives to Fender Precisions', Jazzs' & Musicman Stingrays, the Tributes are the cheaper non US guitars, but they are a good alternative to the Mexican Fenders, or just Leo Fender fans looking for a G&L instrument that won't break the bank.

  7. Bump, will take offers in the region of £500

Just fallen in love with a Tacoma 6 string guitar (and I can't bare to part with my Taylor) & needs must, just ordered a set of Rotosound phosphers for this, which will be included in any sale..

I'll leave it on here for a week or so, then I'll be chucking it on eBay

  8. If you only have a few items that require PAT testing, every major plant hire shop (HSS Hire, Speedy Hire) carries a clare tester (hire items have to be PAT tested after every hire) and for a nominal fee will test items on site.. Usually if it's only one or 2 things they'll do it on good will & not charge (atleast I did when I used to work for one).

  9. Hi all, new here (guitarist masquerading as a bass player). Looking to trade my Washburn AB45 (5 string variant of the AB40). I acquired this bass a while ago direct from Washburn for an acoustic project. It came from their “new old stock” and was one of their artist sample basses (marked with a star by the A tuning peg on the back of the headstock). These basses have never been imported to the UK, and are infinitely nicer in quality then the lower end AB10’s & AB20’s & sports a Venetian cutaway (the cheaper models have the pointed Florentine cutaway). It’s finished in Vintage Sunburst with quilted maple back and sides, both the top and the back are arched & the soundhole has been replaced by a series of angled slits (to reduce feedback when plugged in). Tuners are Gold Grovers & it is fitted with a Piezo pickup, the three gold nobs on the front are volume, treble & bass. Nut & Bridge are set to the Buzz Feiten Tuning system (as standard on all higher end Washburns). Comes with a Washburn hardshell case (perfect order & 2 keys for lock). Bass itself is unmarked in as new condition (aside from the small star on the headstock). This guitar carries an RRP of $1549 though usually retails at around the $1100 mark

I would be interested in trading this for a 4 string Lakland or Musicman, or perhaps the Fender JP90 or similar, though any offers would be considered, any interesting 6 string guitars (electric or acoustic) would be considered too.

Not really wanting to sell this, but I won’t ignore any sensible offers .

    Cheers.
