  1. Dunc took a Trace Elliot Elf head off me. Royal Mail messed about with the delivery and Dunc showed patience and understanding throughout and even visited the depot to try to sort things out.

    An all-round decent, honest bloke.

  2. This has served me very nicely the last couple of years paired up with a GK cab that I also have listed. I've used it for jazz/jazz-funk gigs and I've never needed more power. I did a couple of gigs using this with one of my EBS cabs when I wanted the comfort of a bit more headroom and it gave more than enough. I was thinking of keeping it as a backup but now I'm using an active cab so it's of no use to me in that context.

This can be picked up/demo's in Brighton or I'll post to mainland UK for £10.

    Any questions, please ask.

    Thanks for looking.

  3. Believe it or not, this has been my main gigging cab for the last couple of years. It's been paired with a Trace Elliot Elf head and it's served me pretty well doing jazz/jazz-funk gigs in pubs and even outdoors. Full disclosure, the drummers and guitarists have been of the more subtle variety - you're not going to have the headroom for rock with this. There's hardly a mark on it which is some feat given it's painted aluminum. Comes with Roqsolid cover.

Reason for sale: I've got a preamp/active cab setup now so this is surplus to requirement and gathering dust.

Can be picked up/demo'd in Brighton or I'll post within mainland UK for £12.

  4. I bought this about a year and a half ago from a fellow BC'er and it's never been gigged in the time I've had it. I'm selling this as I've gone down the route of separate preamp with active cab so this is surplus to requirement. At home I paired this with an EBS 1x10 cab and it's so loud I barely got the master and gain above 1! The eq is very nice and natural sounding and there are lots of cool features. See here: https://www.bassdirect.co.uk/product/grbass-one-800/

Bass direct has them for £749 so this is a pretty decent saving over new.

My GR cab turned up today. Initial impression is that it's pretty much what I was hoping for: light and loud. I've got the Natural Fibre 110 active. I'm using a Darkglass Vintage Ultra preamp I'm really happy with the sound. The cab doesn't add or take away anything. Just nice uncolored amplification. Have a gig coming up soonish so we'll see how it stacks up.

I took the cab to my friend's basement and whacked it up to full volume and with a passive bass and flat preamp eq it was pretty clear. Boosting the bass caused a bit of distortion but this is only a 10" driver. Overall I'm pretty impressed. A few bassists and other musicians came in and out while I was trying it out and there were definitely a few puzzled looks and head scratching when they picked it up after hearing the sound it was putting out.

I have the 4Ω AT110 and it's fantastic. I can literally lift it with my pinky, and yet it holds its own in a big band. Here it is on our local bandstand - open air, with keys, drums and a dozen horns yet strangely loud enough!  Mine came from Bass Direct. At the time the 8Ω were on the shelf and I debated but went with the 4 to suck the most power from my amp.

Cool. I notice the active cabs have 4ohm drivers and I reckon the 350W power amp should be enough for my needs.

The powered GR cabs are available to order. Our keyboard player had just got one on the back of trying my GR bass cabs. He has a 112H 350 watt and is very pleased with it. I've plugged my bass into it without a preamp...just straight in to try it and it sounds great.

    IMG_20230803_200703.jpg

Good to know. I've asked Bass Direct to order a 1x10 and I'm waiting to hear back.

Nope, you're right it's also powered cabinet as well, but they are not really available at the moment, so I guess nobody will have tried them or even seen them in the "flesh".

But they should be very interesting indeed.

I'm waiting for a darkglass vintrage ultra preamp to arrive. If I get what I'm after in terms of tone from that, I may just take a leap of faith and order an active cab. Of course I'll share my findings on this thread :)

GR Bass doesn't make any powered cab...

I own a GR Bass AeroTech Full Carbon Combo 800 (8.2 kilos for 800 Watts at 4 Ohms and can even go down to 2.7 Ohms) and a GR Bass AeroTech Full Carbon 112+ Cabinet (6.3 kilos for 450 Watts at 8 ohms) and it's a back saver.

You won't find anything lighter and so powerful right now.

This is what I mean by powered:

    https://www.grbass.com/portfolio/nf-110-350-act/

Maybe I should have said active? :)

  11. It's interesting that a lot of the discussion is about the durability. My gigging life means I'm always transporting my own gear. I've used a GK MB extension cab for years now. This is aluminium so hardly impact proof but is still in mint condition so I guess I should be ok with the carbon cabs. I'm considering getting a powered cab and running it with a darkglass or something similar. I'm up 3 flights of stairs and not getting any younger so the power to weigh equation definitely matters to me. Does anyone have experience of the powered cabs?

Would you be interested in a trade for a strat style neck? Mighty Mite with rosewood fingerboard, 'V' profile and satin lacquer, currently fitted with old Hofner tuners. Lovely neck but I fancy a P-Bass project next this was destined for a jazzmaster.

Hi, I don't have a body to go with it so another neck isn't any good to me. Very much trying to reduce my gear to the minimum.

  13. I've had this cab along with a 1x10 of the same series for over 10 years. I think the virtues of these have been stated many times and I have nothing to add other than these are the only cabs I've ever actually like the sound of the HF horn. Most cabs I turn them off or disconnect them but these EBS ones actually very musical. Condition wise, this has no probs whatsoever. Just a bit or scuffing on the corners. The last time I used this was back when I was playing with a samba percussion ensemble 7-8 years ago and I paired this up with my 1x10 and I needed that headroom to have a hope of hearing myself. After I stopped that, I swore I would never do another gig where I needed more than a single speaker so this has just sat unused.

Today (7th July)I took this to my friend Bernie of GB Guitars who used to distribute EBS in the UK. I really pushed the volume up in the basement of his shop and it sounds killer. He has assured me this is not a neo despite what it says on the grille. Bernie's opinion is the Eminence drive in this cab is better sounding than the neo but there is a slight weight penalty.

At the moment I'm planning to keep the 1x10 but if someone wanted to take them both off me, I could do a deal.

    Thanks for looking.

  14. I bought this a few moons ago from a guy who worked at GAK and I believe I'm the second owner. This served me well as I was playing upright and electric and having the two sets of controls was a great feature as the characteristics of the piezo pickup on the upright were very different from bass guitar and I could easily swap without messing around with the controls. I no longer play upright except the odd noodle at home and my headroom needs have be met by my Elf head which has less than half the power of this so this has sat unused for nearly 10 years. The gig bag is pretty cool in that all of the outputs are accessible from back when you unzip it but it also has some velcro pads to stop it moving on your cab and a strap to stop it falling out the back.

Even though it's discontinued, the specs are still on the Markbass website:

    https://www.markbass.it/product/lmk/

Anyone is welcome to come and try out in Brighton.

    The price includes UK postage.

  15. I got this a few years back with the idea that my other half might take up the bass, something that never happened. Anyway, I fell in love with the beautiful rubbery sound of a short scale with flats myself and kept it for a few years. I've done plenty of jazz jam sessions and the odd jazz gig with this and it's perfect for that. With the tone open, you get McCartney type tones and rolled off sounds almost upright like. The pickup is fantastic. I'm selling as I have too many basses and I'm decluttering my life right now. Condition wise, it's used not abused. It's nearly 20 years old and it's been played so it's on the good side of what you might expect. There's a small crack in the lacquer at the back of the headstock and a tiny crack in the paint at the neck joint. A couple of dings in the top of the headstock and some blemishes in the finish. It's got Thomastik flats on it which I put on about 6-7 years ago and they have remained since.

I'd prefer local pickup in Brighton but I'll post at buyers expense.

    Thanks for looking.

  16. Squier body - not sure what kind.

    Vintage style bridge.

    Stew Mac own brand pickups.

Stew Mac control package (I think they're CTS pots).

    Generic pickguard.

The weight of body with neck is just under 8lb 12oz.

The pickups are embarrassingly nice - the bass sounds as good if not better than my late 70s P. They have a bit more warmth to them.

Price includes UK delivery or you can come to Brighton.

Obvs, this is body only, neck not included.

Listed as part of a complete bass here:
