Whatever works for you but I'm slightly confused as to why you would need to use a capo with a 5 string bass for songs in Eb or D unless I've read the post incorrectly.
Also can you get capos wide enough for a 5 string neck? Not sure if it would have sufficient pressure for the low B.

I've done it. I've listed my LT5 in the for sale section. I picked it up and played it for a bit before I took the photos and thought this is a great bass I should keep bit common sense had prevailed and it's gone up

Decided to put up my awesome (and unfortunately no longer made) Spector LT5 in Violet Fade for sale.
This has been my main touring bass for the last two years and has seen some action at Glastonbury, Green Man and many more festivals that I can't even remember!
Despite being my main bass I have really looked after the bass and it's in excellent condition. No dings or dents just light surface scratches that every guitar gets from being played!
The bass has a 3 piece maple neck with alder body wings and a very nice flamed maple top, which is almost holographic and almost impossible to photo! 😂
The bass has a very nice ebony fingerboard, MOP Spector crown inlays, Gotoh lightweight tuners, brass nut, Dunlop straplocks, Custom wound to Spector spec Bartolini pickups and Darkglass preamp, and thr finish is so good it's ridiculously reflective and shiny.. again making it difficult to take good photos!
The bass plays very nicely and sounds phenomenal. The bass is 35" scale and the low B is the best I've experienced on a high end bass. Currently strung with Dunlop Super Bright Steels.
Sale includes the Spector gig bag.
Looking for £1800 due to excellent condition and I think collection is needed.
I have the boxes it came in but I don't feel comfortable shipping it without a hardcase.

These are great amps. EBS sent me one a few years ago which I gave back once I left to use Hartke.
Very loud and portable for what they are, used it on a number of occasions where I didn't want to take my big amp.

I agree! I don't see the point of owning an instrument that is pristine and with all original parts. If the instrument has had parts replaced, refretted etc then that is because its a brilliant instrument that has been enjoyed and used and in some cases have really interesting stories and history linked to them.
My p bass has one pre CBS and one post CBS pickup. Obviously, one had died and back then, pickups rewinds weren't a thing so whoever owned it at the time went to a music store and ordered in a replacement fender pickup for it!
I think it's easy to lose sight with these vintage instruments that back then they were just merely tools! 😂

Accidentally listed this in the Accessories for sale thread but probably better to have it in the effects for sale section. Apologies if its not ok to share the original post in here!

I bought my 64 p bass last year for a significant birthday present to myself and it's by far the most incredible instrument I've ever owned.
It's player grade and was played to death by a famous UK session player from 1969 if I remember correctly, ans I can see why!
Every note across the entire fretboard is clear as a bell and completely in tune. Definitely completely bonded with it more than any bass I've ever owned!

Clearing out a lot of stuff that is just sitting in boxes under my desk.
For sale is my EBS Microbass in Bass preamp and DI.
Bought it on here a few years ago and used it for a number of tours for FOH and practice at home until it started to momentarily cut out on channel A intermittently but never for long, but long enough to not want to use it for live.
Amazing sounding preamp and speaker sim and incredibly versatile.
Probably could be used as a practice solution for somebody or perhaps somebody with tech knowledge or an interest in repairing things could fix it.
£75 delivered.

For sale is my Rockboard Quad 4.1 pedlaboard fitted with the Rockboard Mod 1 patchy bay.
Used this as my pedalboard for the last 5 years and it has been great, very light but sturdy and very easy to build a good pedalboard with.
It's covered in velcro that can of course be removed.
Also included is a Pedaltrain gig bag that came with the Pedaltrain that I recently bought. There is a small hole in the case which I've pictured and doesn't include the shoulder strap but other than that it's never been used.
This could probably be stitched or glued back together... not that I'm an arts and crafts expert though!
It just happens to fit the rockboard Quad 1 perfectly so thought I would list it as one whole thing.

For sale is a set of EMG J Jazz Bass pickups for 4 string bass.
Comes with the solderless controls and wiring kit. Doesn't include the Jazz control plate sorry, using this just to keep it all together safely for the moment.
I think I threw the box away but can package them securely and all instructions are available from the EMG website.
Had these in my Jazz Bass for a year and saw very little use as I tend to gig mainly 5 string and precision basses. Decided I wanted to change back to passive pickups, so these are up for sale.
Great sounding pickups and completely noiseless!

For sale is my Truetone 1Spot CS7
Great power supply in very good condition (just a slight scratch on the yellow paint) complete with box, mounting kit and all the various cables.
Reason for sale is that I bought a CIOKS SOL for my Quad Cortex which I then obviously I sold but it still fits my needs better than the CS7 so needs to go!

For sale is the neck from my Limelight Precision Bass Relic Neck with mid 60s Fender Logo, clay dots, and Rosewood fingerboard. Frets in very good condition.
I, mid lock-down decided I didn't like the feel of the nitro on the neck and so rubbed it down and then heavily oxidised the wood and waxed it, removed the plastic side dots and put in some clay. I believe the neck is an Allparts because the neck that I replaced it with was an Allparts, that was identical in shape and feel.
I discovered that it didn't actually look too far removed from the neck on my actual 1964 p bass.
Why did I change the neck? Because I was never too blow away by the Limelight relic job on the neck and the chap that does all the work on my basses does incredible refinishing and relics so decided to let him do his magic on a new neck.
Looking for £150 delivered ONO
Great neck for a vintage type bitsa project or if you wanted to strip the neck back and put in better side dots.

After a good 3 weeks or so of not playing my Spector and instesd my Fenders, Musicman and Alpher my arms and shoulder are pain free which gives me a pretty clear indication that unfortunately, despite my love for Spectors they are not suited to me as a gigging instrument.
I'll probably be listing it on here regrettably when I get a chance and maybe look for a Fender P bass V.

Yes, it always comes across as a soupy noise live. Or at least it seems to, YMMV. They're really just a cover band live now anyway since their most important member has effectively become a recluse. Too many years of smoking weed and reading conspiracy theory nonsense on the net has fried his brain.
Interesting to see Chi Cheng mentioned again, because he always struck me as a functional player who could have been replaced by any jobber at short notice. Could anyone point me to something remarkable he has done or a moment where he really shines? I've been listening to Deftones for over twenty years and I've never been moved by what he played other than to say he played the bass part on the tracks.
For me I thought Chi Cheng had this very laid back groove that worked between the guitars and drums.
Simple and functional but with a great feel.

Ha. Yeah I did start to wear it pretty low which helped my right arm but absolutely destroyed my left shoulder! Can't seem to win!

After crippling shoulder pain after a wedding gig last Thursday where I used my Spector followed by a festival last night where I used my Stingray 5 where I felt absolutely fine after the gig I think it's time to accept defeat and acknowledge by body doesn't like how the bass hangs when standing up.
It's an incredible bass, sounds amazing, plays amazing and I love the design of the basses from the body shape to the bridge and headstock design.
Thinking I'll probably put it in a case and leave it there as a studio tool thought it pains me to have such a great instrument not being used!

I got mine, put it straight on my board.
Used it in rehearsal for a laugh and the presets were great and the pedal really responded well with my active spector.
Actually used it tonight on my gig, shoehorned it in! Sounded fat. Everyone has commented on how great it sounds!
Haven't had a chance to actually play with it, instead just using the presets but I'm sure tweaking the settings will get it suited to your bass.

Me too.
I like Doug Wimbish, but just felt Living Colour were more, umm, colourful when Muzz was in the band.
They just seemed a more happier/fun unit with Muzz; when Doug came in, things just got a bit darker and moodier.
I would agree with that! Although I think that the darker album was not down to Doug alone, I think a lot of new music around that time was on the darker side and they went in that direction.

I'm a big fan of Doug Wimbish and Living Colour.
Bit before my time, but I remember hearing Cult of Personality on Napster and loving it and then when I was 20 seeing Wimbish doing that performance on his DVD on YouTube completely blew me a way.
Saw lots of polar opinions about the sound on this tiny desk performance but I loved the separation, hearing Vernon reads guitar and dougs bass tone coming through.

After two years in a row playing it, I'm very relieved not to be sleeping in a freezing cold, damp tent, zero sleep, desperately trying to keep hold of your your tickets for your gear that youve put in site storage and the either cold or extremely hot showers!!
Of course I'll miss the playing and the fun but the rest I do not miss at all!

I find on my Spector LT5 a good setup, good intonation and a lighter gauge string... I user a .125 Dunlop super bright gives me a lot of clarity and note all the way across the neck.
I find not cranking the bass on the preamp or amp also helps and also a lighter touch helps bring more note out of the string.

Using a Capo on a 5-String
in Bass Guitars
Posted
True and I agree that the true beauty of a 5 string is playing across the neck and making life easier for yourself.
I've started to move back towards 4 strings recently but if I need a 5, I use a 5.
