    Intonation 1 note flat after neck change

    So I replaced my 20 fret neck with a 24 fret neck (I'm thinking this is why) and from measurements it seemed to be all matched up.

    Now it's on, every string at the 12th fret is 1 note flat. So E becomes Eb, A is Ab, D is Db and G is Gb. The tuning starts going off around fret 7. Have I messed up the scale length by getting a fretboard with more frets?

    Ive moved the saddles as far to the nut as I can which didnt do anything and also tried moving them further away to see if that changed anything which neither did.

    Tried adjusting the truss rod and also the height of the strings but this too didn't have any effect.

    I used TE for a long time, 9-10 years roughly. For most of that I ran an AH300-7 into two TE 4x10s in a loud punk band and never had a problem with being heard if there was 1 or 2 guitars,mainly 1 though.

    For the tail end of that I had the Peavey gen TE which was an AH600-12 into a TE 4x10 and 1x15. Never had a problem being heard there either! Norman Watt Roy actually borrowed this setup from me when he came to play in Aylesbury!

    I also ran a TE V6 through both different cab setups, which when it worked properly, sounded really good.

    So IMO I had no reliability issues with the main older TE apart from the V6 which would just die and pop valves randomly. The newer Peavey stuff, the cabs were fine but had a lot of issues with the AH600-12 Had to send it back and forth to TE to be fixed numerous times.

    So I would say you can't really go wrong with Trace and if they weren't so heavy then I would have stayed with them!

    They are also usually easy to find and cheap too for watt they are. (Da dum dum tish)

    Where can you get cheap necks from?

    Ah ha yes I forgot about thomman doing that. So I'll have a check thanks!

    I wasn't sure about putting this here or in the wanted section as I thought it would be handy for people to reply here rather than having to PM but could also be helpful for others too :)

    I should add that the neck needs to be the squared off heel rather than the usual curved off one

    Where can you get cheap necks from?

    I'm looking for a replacement neck for one of my basses. It's a p bass but with the old Tele bass shape and head. So ideally looks wise I would like the headstock to be the same/similar.

    The measurements of the heel of the current neck width ways is 62mm so can't be any bigger. I've got a spare neck but that's a 64mm so is too big.

    So any ideas where I can find some online?

    Which Octave Pedal

    I've recently got myself a Valeton octave pedal, which is based on the Boss oc2. Even looks like it but is about half the size of the Boss. From memory of when I had an OC2, the Valeton seems to track pretty much the same! It's also about half the price of the Boss at around £50!

    I tried watching them at Glastonbury this year and like others have said it really was very samey. The songs I've heard off their 2nd album definitely haven't made me want to check out the rest of the album like the first one.

    But now listening back to the first album songs, I can only really listen to one at a time without skipping track to something else.

    Still think his setup is interesting though. Not sure I could remember what does what lol

    In the thread about his new basses I do like them though

    Selling my two HB 15s for £160, they are £109 each brand new. I've barely used these, not gigged or used at a loud band practice volume, only at bedroom volume. I did give them a very quick blast at home and they sounded great. I've taken the tweeters out but I've still got them so I can give them to you. The cabs have a big sound and sound really good considering the price!

    I had a Trace head for years which was 300 watts and never had a problem with keeping up with a loud valve head and 4x12 sometimes 2x 4x12 and a loud drummer.

    I've got a markbass 250 watt head so I doubt there will be any difference between those two and probably near enough the same as the elf.

    I'm really not bothered about the jack speaker out, as long as it works and makes noise then that's all that matters to me. I've used jack to Jack speaker leads, Jack to speakon, Jack to xlr and speakon to speakon(if it's the same as neutric) and I have never noticed any differences between them.

    I want to know more about the cabs too!
