1. Charity fundraiser at Harewood House near Leeds in a huge marquee. 350 guests all up for it. Ran late so we played 9 songs in 2 sets. Still was ace if a lot of fannying around. Sat up buzzing after a night quaffing lemonade now. Rock n roll man!

  2. I must be a masochist but have ordered another for my Orange SP212. I truly hope the transaction is OK as the quality of the goods is so good. I personally prefer them to the others I have seen.
Shaun has been good with emails so far, quickly quoted for the cover after my enquiry, its running late now though, ordered and paid on 26 April. Chased earlier this week and got email back saying it's made, soz for delay and will be here by the end of the week.

    Breath held.........fingers crossed........will let you know...... :)

  3. We played a pub gig one time. A bit off our usual tracks. After about 40 mins the last two punters left. We soldiered on to a completely empty pub for a couple more songs and no more customers materialised. We agreed that we would stop then yet still got full pay. Never again

I bought one of these attenuators last year at the same time as I bought the Bass Terror, hoping that what I had read had been a myth or an early fault and I'd never really need to use it. But for a fiver fix, who cares, right? So I had 4-5 gigs using my rig as backline-only and its sweet, warm, crunchy balanced harmonics seduced me very quickly indeed. Then I had a big gig with PA support, and I warned the sound tech in advance just in case. "Nah it should be fine, mate."

    Then...

"Woaaaaaaaaaaah" he said during soundcheck, "Yeah, it looks like we're going to have to use your little metal thing."

So I plugged it in, and within an instant it was problem solved.

Thanks all. Sorted and bought one. Fingers crossed now. Andy

So yes, for some god-only-known reason, the output does indeed need to be attenuated by a whole 40db! The good news is that this cheap little tube will do the job quite nicely, at the only expense of sticking out a good whack from the side of your head during the gig. And a fiver, of course...

Other than that, it's one hell of an amp, and despite the slight trade-off in size and weight, I don't regret getting rid of my Little Mark II for one second.

  5.
Studiospares 40db in line attenuator about five GBP, mine (and I believe everybody elses) is exactly the same. If I knew how to put up a link I would but I'm as thick as a whale omelette when it comes to computers.
Cheers Gerry. Anyone know anything about these?

  6. I bought the OBT in December. It seemed fine for the first couple of gigs then suddenly was distorting like crazy when DI'd to the PA via the built in output. I took it back to the dealer who tried and found the same problem (essentially the output was way too high). The amp went back to Orange and returned much better.

After Saturday night though, it looks like it may be happening again meaning I could only add a tiny bit in the PA to avoid distortion which doesn't happen if I mic the cab - only when using the DI.

Anyone else experienced the same? It seems to need a variable output control of some sort. Not sure whether to return again to the dealer or is there anything I can connect through to allow me to vary the output?

    Waddya think?
    Andy

  7. Must be a Monkey thing Thom, I recently shrunk my Ampeg mega rig to the Orange Bass Terror and SP212 cab. I will never go back. They fit in my boot with the rest of my gear (guitars on back seat though) but at least I can get passangers in now, used to be cab on front seat, rest across back and in boot. Your rig looks fab though. Enjoy

Doubtless still wake up screaming at the thought of our impressive one way traffic system.....

  9.
Does it come with the on/off switch?
    Is it as new?

    cheers.
Here you go - some pics. It doesn't have an On/Off switch. It is in great nick however should mention, there are some marks on the bit under the head. Now given its always been kept in its case, the clip doesn't reach up that high and it's never been dropped/abused in any way I can only suggest they were there from new. Hopefully you can see in the pics. You can't feel them, they're kind of blemishes in the top layer of paint. The shaft of the mic where the clip holds doesn't have any marks at all.
    Cheers Andy

  10.
I just had a message from the seller

    "Hi Wayne,

Just picked up your message. It's a shame but I understand where you're coming from. if we can meet up Saturday at Clacket Lane Services, then I can give you the refund back. If you could bring the quote with you it would also be great as it will need repairing at some point before it's get sold again.

    With Regards,"

Just read through this thread. I completely agree, seems like a top guy
    Can't fault his attitude

  11.
Nice range you have there, one for every occasion, loving the Stingray.
I always play the Ric to be honest, it is lovely but used the Stingray to rehearse a week ago and fell in love again. Took it apart cleaned and loved it, new strings then played it on Saturday gig. I removed the dampers and that gave it a better sound. Bloody lovely but really "bassy" I love the trebbly sound the Ric delivers. As you can tell I know my technical terms! hahahaha
